Recap / Lost Girl S 3 E 7 Theres Bo Place Like Home

Go To

Bo is having real difficulty with her first Dawning challenge and has to go home to deal with her human family.

  • Anger Born of Worry: What Bo ends up attributing her adoptive mother's fundie raging.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The shots that Lauren provides Bo for if she goes nutso. Kenzi uses the first one when Bo's just angry, not mad. The second stops Bo going Bonzo at the cordial stand. The third... gets used to depower Lady Polly so Bo can dump her back in the well.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: After Bo's adoptive mother flips from sunny to Crusader, Bo runs to the festival and has a dozen cherry cordials.
  • Epiphany Therapy: Basically, the entire point of the episode. Bo confronts the evil bitch who made her teen years hell and finds a sweet old widow suffering Alzheimer's.
  • The Fundamentalist: Bo's adoptive mother. Gets even scarier, because she flips from Kind, and suffering from Dementia, to Fire and Brimstone, and telling Bo she should die.
  • Has a Type: Apparently, according to Dyson, ... well, see Letting Her Hair Down. Seems that's Trick's candy.
  • Letting Her Hair Down: "The tough, no-nonsense, ball-buster", as Dyson describes her. At the end of the episode, she lets her hair down and leads Trick into his office...
  • Mommy Issues: Bo's issues with her biological mother (with the trying to kill each other) pale in comparison to the issues with her adoptive mother.
  • Oh, Crap!: Kenzi tries to reassure Bo that it wasn't killing Kyle that unleashed Lady Polly (the evil fae haunting the town), but a fire years back... Bo was there.
Kenzi: More wine for the lady!
    • At the end, Bo learns that what she just did, what took her a lot of work and difficulty, is just the first and easiest task she'll face.
  • Pun: Kenzi's still off her game after her kitsune kidnapping.
    Bo: "Not feeling very well"?
Kenzi: I'm still getting my mojo back.
  • Sad Clown: Kenzi.
Bo: Kenzi, you can't keep hiding behind your jokes.
    Kenzi: Sure I can.
  • Serious Business: Kenzi is quite upset that Doug burned a copy of "Antichrist Superstar" as an offering to Lady Polly.
  • Stalker Shrine: Bo's adoptive mom has a platonic one. She keeps Bo's room EXACTLY the same.
  • Tap on the Head: Polly KOs Dougie before the final fight. He's okay.
  • That Man Is Dead: Doug insists Dougie is dead. The loser goth kid he was in high school is now a small town mechanic.
  • Unnaturally Blue Lighting: Lady Polly appears in midday's glare, turning a warm, yellow scene into a creepy, overcast scene. Then someone dies horribly.
