"Elementary My Dear Watsons": Carmen gets caught in the middle of a mystery.
"Elementary My Dear Watsons" contains the following tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: The kids think they've found the Hound of the Baskervilles...but then Luna emerges from the dark alley.
- Detectives Follow Footprints: Carmen sees a set of pawprints leading from the table which the shepherd's pie was sitting on, and follows it for the rest of the episode.
- Eat the Evidence: Played with. Andy eats the Shepherd's pie left on the trail of footprints, not because he's the culprit, but because he's a Big Eater in general. Carmen chews him out for this.
- E = MC Hammer: During Carmen's song, you can see an equation that says SIN(=PIE=a/c) COS(=CLUE=b/c).
- Entertainment Above Their Age: The Sherlock Holmes novels aren't really appropriate for a child as young as Carmen to be reading, especially The Hound of the Baskervilles, which is about an attempted murder.
- Hellhound: The Hound of the Baskervilles, obviously. And just like in the original story, the hound isn't really a ghost. In this case, the Hound of the Baskervilles was just a costume that Wolfgang wore. He ended up tripping on the Shepherd's pie, then rushed to the store to replace it.
- Mystery Episode: A shepherd's pie that was baked for the Sherlock Holmes party was stolen, so Carmen and the others solve the mystery of who took it.
- Note to Self: Carmen instructs Leo to take notes, since he is playing the role of Watson along with Andy and Luna. However, the only note he took was "Note to self: If you see the Hound of the Baskervilles, scream and run."Leo: Helpful advice, don't you think?
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: The Hound of the Baskervilles is described as having glowing red eyes.
- "Psycho" Strings: They can be heard in Señor Fabuloso's flashback when he realizes that the shepherd's pie is gone.
- Sherlock Homage: Carmen dresses in the typical plaid deerstalker hat get-up when solving the mystery. She also makes Leo, Luna, and Andy all be Watson.
- Shout-Out: Carmen dresses up as Sherlock Holmes, and mentions The Hound of the Baskervilles as being her favorite Sherlock Holmes book.
"Way Down in London Town": Andy digs up a mysterious object.
"Way Down in London Town" contains the following tropes:
- '60s Hair: Reggie has a moptop hair style.
- Ambiguous Situation: No one knows what the Roman dodecahedron, the mysterious object, was used for — just that it was Roman.
- Argument of Contradictions: Throughout the episode, Andy and Reggie argue over who really owns the mysterious thing, saying stuff like "it's mine!" and "no, it's mine!"
- Disney Acid Sequence: The song in this episode has some pretty psychedelic visuals, which fits in with the "swinging 60s" themes of the episode.
- Beneath the Earth: This episode's character, Reggie, lives in a spacious underground lair where he keeps all his stuff. One of the other characters, Nigel, even has a working elevator underground.
- New-Age Retro Hippie: Reggie is clearly a hippie, as he wears a colorful shirt with a peace sign, and says stuff like 'groovy' and 'far out.'
- One-Steve Limit: Nigel shares his name with another English character also named Nigel — a bulldog who appeared in "Jolly Special Friend."
- Shout-Out: Reggie thinks that the mysterious object could have been owned by William Shakespeare and says "To be or not to be."
