Go To

Written By Javier Grillo Marxuach

Directed By Lesli Linka Glatter

The shooting and rape of a man (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) outside a gay club thrusts Benson and Stabler into the world of video porn. The victim's wife (Elizabeth Banks) and their young daughter (Audrey Twitchell) are both dragged into the case, while Fin gets entangled with the lead witness (Kevin Geer) due to the latter's past.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Agonizing Stomach Wound: Wesley suffers a non-lethal example after being shot in the stomach, but is still suffering from the effects of it throughout the episode. It was also this injury that proved that he couldn't have possibly been the one who murdered Cal.
  • Asshole Victim: Cal Oman is such a terrible human being that you wouldn't feel sorry for his death.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Jaina. While she was initially seen as someone who was forced into doing porn to pay for her sick daughter's treatment, ultimately she came to enjoy the life and became more interested in becoming famous than in the fate of her family, even as Wesley goes through hell trying to protect her.
  • Disability Alibi: The gun used to kill Cal Oman has a trigger so tight Stabler visibly winces pulling it, and he quickly comments that Wesley (who has an injury) could not have pulled the trigger.
  • Fanservice Extra: When Olivia and Elliot came to take Jaina in the porn studio she's working at, she's with two shirtless porn actors. A porn actress wearing a short robe is also seen sitting for Jaina's daughter.
  • French Maid: Jaina is dressed as one in the porn movie she was shooting when Elliot and Olivia arrive.
  • Harmful to Minors: Jaina brings her daughter to her workplace, which is a porn site. The main characters and the judge are not amused. Before that she was literally slut-shamed by her mother-in-law in front of her daughter, who then proceeded to ask Wesley what the word means.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: A non-lethal example: Wesley takes the blame for his wife's killing of Cal Oman.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Part of the reason Cal attempted to kill Wesley is because he has the hots for the latter's wife, Jaina.
  • No Bisexuals: Averted, when Wesley, who had been shot outside of a gay bar in the beginning of the episode, was later revealed to have a wife and daughter. The detectives assured him plenty of people "hit for both teams". Though ultimately subverted in that he wasn't bisexual, he was actually straight and being paid to do gay porn in order to pay for his daughter's medical treatment.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Wesley's parents do not like Jaina, especially his mother. The feeling is mutual on Jaina's part.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Wesley leaves his daughter to his parents before surrendering himself to the police while Jaina plans to leave New York to return home.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Invoked by Fin in order to make a warrant, whereas Alex bitterly complies.
Fin: Is there anyone you can call to help us here?
Alex: After working with this squad, I don't think I have many left.
  • Slut-Shaming: Wesley's mother did this to Jaina word per word, in front of her granddaughter no less.
  • Straight Gay: One of the officers in the Cold Open who discovers Wesley. Refreshingly, he's openly gay, his partner knows and doesn't give him grief and it's treated as a non-issue by everyone else, though Benson and Stabler understandably offer to be discreet before they are told this.
  • Three-Way Sex: Discussed. Jaina and Wesley have to partake in threesome porn scenes or even group scenes to pay for their daughter's treatment.
