Olivia, struggling with looking after Calvin Arliss after his mother went on the lam, receives a surprise late-night visit from undercover FBI agent Dana Lewis, who asks her to quietly investigate her own rape case while not jeopardizing her current undercover op in a right-wing militia group.

- The Bus Came Back: Brian Ackerman returns in this episode, seeking Revenge on Lewis for murdering his son Kyle to save Stabler back in the Season 7 episode "Raw".
- Curse Cut Short: Dana Lewis shoots a warning shot at Seth Coleman, the man who raped her, and calls him "mother...!" before Olivia interrupts to tell her that her warning shot ricocheted and hit Elliot.
- Fate Worse than Death: Once Ackerman is exposed as the one who sent the hitman after Lewis, and reveals he had been continuing his Neo-Nazi operations in prison, he's transferred to solitary confinement for life to suffer. To rub salt in the wound, Lewis gloats that she has a husband and kids she'll be able to watch grow up. Something Ackerman will never have.
- Oh, No... Not Again!: Stabler notes how the last two times he met Dana, he ended up in the hospital. Sure enough, when she shoots at Seth, the ricochet hits him in the shoulder. When Dana visits him, Stabler moans "aw, no," as if worried she's somehow going to do even worse to him.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: When Dana fires a warning shot in the direction of a bunch of metal beams, it leads to the bullet ricocheting off one of them and hitting Elliot in the shoulder, putting him in the hospital. Her superiors promptly take away her gun and suspend her without pay for her actions.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Both Elliot and Olivia call Dana out for shooting at an unarmed suspect and accidentally hitting Elliot in the shoulder with said shot.
