When key evidence against a man suspected in eight murders is thrown out, Price must decide whether convicting the man is worth cutting a deal with a brutal Nazi whose eyewitness testimony may be the only way to ensure a win at trial.

  • Bittersweet Ending: Costa is convicted, but Price is forced to drop the aggravated assault charge against Hobbs, who appears completely unrepentant and without a shred of remorse.
  • Hate Sink: Luke Hobbs, a thoroughly repulsive Neo-Nazi. Not only does he spray-paint a racial slur on the first victim's home, he makes racist comments towards Shaw, and also viciously assaulted a young Jewish woman. Nolan is disgusted at the thought of having to let him walk free in exchange for his testimony, and makes it VERY clear to him following the verdict, that if he ever does anything again, he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
  • Red Herring:
    • Because Ackerman's apartment was tagged with the word 'Jew,' the detectives initially assume the murder was an anti-Semite, and they investigate both the black nationalist podcaster Cordell and the Nazi Hobbs. However, both turn out to have alibis and are innocent of the murder, though Hobbs did leave the graffiti.
    • Ackerman's business partner is also suspected, since Ackerman was trying to torpedo a deal their company desperately needed, but the partner had an alibi too.
  • Strawman News Media: Ackerman's news company was approached by an investment firm who wanted to turn them into a mouthpiece for far-left propaganda. Ackerman didn't want to take the deal, though his partner decided the money was worth it.
