Season 1, Episode 14: A Krapwork Orange

Tropes That Appear In This Episode:

  • Badass Bookworm: The children are taught basic science and combat by Hippo and Stupendous and from that become advanced enough to quickly take down a Roc working together. They also become bloodthirsty for knowledge and are willing to threaten the adults' lives for more.
  • Bears Are Bad News: The people in the parade get attacked by bears in the woods.
  • Enfant Terrible: Orphans in Krapopolis are essentially gangs of feral children that assault and loot people in the city and its outskirts. They get even worse when Stupendous teaches them how to use weapons.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Hippo plans on teaching the orphans to become smarter by starting the first school. Unfortunately, his plan works too well, and the orphans soon become bloodthirsty for knowledge, threatening him and Stupendous to keep teaching them. The adults realize their mistake after the fact when they realize they didn't cover right from wrong beforehand.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Tyrannis goes incognito to Anarkkis' play by wearing a toupee and fake mustache. When he tests it out on his family they were surprised it was supposed to be a disguise and just ignored it.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode's title is a spoof of the book A Clockwork Orange and its film adaptation.
  • Token Good Teammate: One of the orphans is just playing with a doll rather than destroying anything or stealing. Fittingly, Stupendous just picks her up gently.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Stupendous is against the idea of hurting kids, as demonstrated when she refuses to let Hippo test his new flamethrower on the orphans.
