Held captive by the brawling Timbercats, Kipo and pals must find the tough kitties’ leader, Yumyan Hammerpaw, if they want to avoid becoming cat food.

Tropes:

  • Ask a Stupid Question...: The Timbercats' reaction when Kipo asked why didn't they just rescue Yumyan Hammerpaw from the tree.
  • Cat Up a Tree: The entire episode’s conflict basically revolves around this. The Timbercats tell Kipo that Yumyan is stuck in the upper canopies of the forest and won’t come down. By the end, Yumyan is convinced by Kipo to come down, where he is greeted by cheers from his people.
  • Face of a Thug: When the Timbercats start singing about Yumyan Hammerpaw, Wolf bumps into a really large and muscular Timbercat with a stern scowl on his face. All he does is happily dance with her during the song.
  • Foreshadowing: Dr. Oak doesn't really start worrying about the mega-mute until he hears its roar, hinting that he knows it's true identity.
  • Fungus Humongous: After getting away from Timbercat Hall, Kipo's group sleeps in the room of an old building with giant mushrooms inside it.
  • Giant Eye of Doom: In the opening to the episode, the eye of the mega-mute peeks through the hole it makes after it breaks into the ground and stares down at the burrow people below.
  • Ground-Shattering Landing: At the end of the episode, Yumyan descends from the canopies and lands on the ground so hard, it creates a giant dirt cloud.
  • Hairball Humor: After the cats eat the pancakes with cat fur mixed in, all the Timbercats begin coughing up hairballs mixed with pancake vomit.
  • Horse of a Different Color: Yumyan's pet and steed is a flea the size of a horse.
  • Implied Death Threat: When Kipo suggests she and her friends should tie down the giant flea Pierre, Wolf actually threatens to wrap Pierre’s leash around Kipo’s neck for volunteering to do something so dangerous.
  • Jaw Drop: Wolf, Benson and Dave's reaction when they find out Kipo managed to recruit the Timbercats. Their expressions even come complete with Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises.
  • Match Cut: When Kipo gives an awkward smile asking the Timbercats if they could both search for the Mega Mute, bars are placed in front of her before the scene cuts to Kipo’s group being contained in a giant cat carrier.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Kipo is worried about who Scarlemagne is as she acknowledges it sounds like a "freaky name".
  • No Longer with Us: Although the Timbercats act like it, they later admit that their leader, Yumyan Hammerpaw, isn't actually dead, but just got stuck in a tree.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: The giant butterfly nicknamed Charles is animated with CGI, which contrasts with Kipo, Yumyan, and every other character being traditionally animated. He is also the only mute capable of speech who does not have an anthropomorphic design.
  • Oh, Crap!: Dr. Oak, when he realize the humans have been found.
  • Redhead In Green: At least two of the cats have ginger fur and wear green flannel.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Benson's plan to escape the cats is to trick them into eating stacks of pancakes that are laced with fur so they'll cough up hairballs.
  • Unmoving Plaid: The Timbercats' shirts are animated so that their plaid pattern removes entirely static and unchanging while the shirts move — the grid appears to "scroll" across them when the cats move around, and is passes unbroken across their sleeves when these are in front of their bodies.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: We're given full view of the cats hacking up hairballs.
  • Wimp Fight: Two Timbercats fight this way due to both of them doing this while crying over Yumyan Hammerpaw’s absence.
  • You Can Talk?: The butterfly Yumyan was trying to catch can talk.
"She's right. They need you, man."
