With Thankgiving just around the corner, John Redcorn attempts to bond with Joseph and to teach him about Native American culture, which doesn't affect him in the slightest but drives a wedge between Bobby and Hank after the former refuses to celebrate Thanksgiving after learning what the white people did to Native Americans.

Tropes:

  • Hypocrite: John Redcorn is shown to be very resentful of the fact Dale has "stolen" Joseph from him. Never mind the fact that his decade-and-a-half-long affair with Nancy is the only reason that "his" son is being raised by another man. He also complains about being judged harshly by his neighbors for the fact that his distant ancestors practiced cannibalism, despite the fact that he has been spending the entire episode being outraged at them for the way their ancestors treated his tribe.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Joseph makes it very clear that, unlike his biological father, he has zero interest in his Native American heritage (which to be fair, he's completely unaware of) and basically acts like a younger Dale.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Joseph being disgusted at him and accusing him of being a cannibal after learning from Bobby that Native Americans practiced cannibalism sends drives John Redcorn into a rage and to break everything in his path once he returns to his trailer.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass:
    • Nancy Gribble who, after John Redcorn ended their affair and she reconciled with Dale, forbids John Redcorn from having any contact with their son and does whatever she can to prevent this.
    • Bobby briefly falls into this too after Redcorn tells him about the history of the Native Americans to the point of ruining the thanksgiving dinner and ostracizing John in the process. Hank does eventually forgive Bobby for this, and even offers him the one remaining turkey to carve.
