Happy Krash runs merrily along the path and dances with a broom. He finishes his dance on Wally's table and notices that his friend is very gloomy. Wally says he's not gloomy, but serious. Somewhere in the world now, someone is ill; someone is in trouble; someone is starving. He's sitting here and understands it, and Krash is not serious at all.

Some time later, Chiko tells Krash a funny story that happened to him in the morning. He notices that his friend is not laughing and asks if something has happened to him. Krash replies that he has become more serious. Something always happens somewhere; now someone is in trouble, and Chiko is having fun. If he finds out about this, he will get even worse. With these words, sad Krash leaves.

Olga's jam has run away, and Krash begins to comment on it bitterly, which really annoys her. Barry, who has a broken fence, also asks him to leave because it's bad without him right now. Krash wonders why he's never been chased away before. Barry says that he used to be cheerful, was like a sunbeam, and was all glowing. You look at him, and all the problems seem to be trifles. Krash comes home and hangs mirrors and fragments of his broken mirror on himself. Barry is picking apples from a tree when a glowing Krash approaches him. In the bright light, Barry falls off the ladder. Then Krash approaches Olga, who is hanging up the laundry. The bright light blinded her, and she fell from the porch of her house.

In the evening, when the sun disappears behind the clouds, the traumatized Olga and Barry explain to Krash that he was glowing with joy. Suddenly, a happy Wally runs up to them and reads his new poem. Krash pulls him back. How can he have fun when somewhere, someone... Wally declares that he has already suffered enough and leaves. Krash doesn't understand anything and asks Olga and Barry if it's still possible to have fun if someone is suffering somewhere. Olga replies that it is impossible to suffer for everyone at once; it is at least impolite. Barry says it's better to suffer in turn. Krash asks who's last in line. Barry replies that he and Olga will suffer for a long time, not less than twenty minutes, so that Krash has time to have fun. Krash thanks them and happily runs away.
