Time has been reset! And the Tozitend's plan to prevent the Zenkaigers from reforming... is to kidnap Setchan!?
Setchan: Previously on… Zenkaiger!
The Zenkaigers all got to enjoy a vacation together!
Here's hoping the rest of summer break goes just as well!
...Wait, today's fight has already started?!

While the Zenkaigers are fighting Hidokei Wald, the Wald resets time back to half a year ago, right to the beginning of the Tozitend invasion before the Zenkaigers were formed. Being the only one who still retains his memory of the past events, Kaito sets out to reform the Zenkaigers as quickly as possible, however even he starts to lose his memories over time as well...

Episode Tropes

  • A Day in the Limelight: Setchan gets to be the MVP of today's episode, helping the team understand the situation with Hikoukei Wald.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Hidokei Wald just can't properly explain himself in the short time someone is paying attention to him, so all his attempts to warn his superiors naturally flop terribly. It's most apparent in his brief encounter with Stacy shortly before Zox's arrival, as blabbering a warning about an incomprehensible singing, dancing pirate uses all of Stacy's already meager supply of patience in an instant, causing him to shoot Hidokei Wald and stomp off.
  • Close-Enough Timeline: Though Hidokei Wald ultimately fails to avert the Tozitend's defeats, his temporal incursion does create a minor change as several sequences in the first episode are rewritten with a future-aware Kaito. Most notably, Kaito deliberately recites the phrase to activate Setchan when he had originally done so inadvertently. Kaito then loses his future knowledge just before he meets Juran, and so we see Zenkaiger history proceed as it should while both Hidokei Wald and future Setchan operate from behind the scenes. Apparently Kaito recognising Barashitara and name-dropping the four Kikainoids to Yacchan had no consequences.
  • Forgotten Phlebotinum: Setchan runs on batteries and requires a daily recharge (as revealed in episode 10), but here he breezes though half a year with Hidokei Wald without being able to charge and yet has no issues.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard:
    • The Tozitend's plan was to rewind time to prevent the formation of the Zenkaigers; however none of the Tozitend from the past recognises Hidokei Wald, resulting in him being shot down every time he tries to warn them about the Zenkaigers, rendering the plan useless.
    • While Hidokei Wald brought Setchan along in case the latter would spill any hints about preventing the Zenkaigers' creation, Setchan was able to inform the Zenkaigers of the Wald off-screen to prepare and prevent him from performing a second rewind. It gets to a point where Tozitend sees there being no use in having him grow.
Setchan: Your biggest mistake... (flashes eyes) was trying to kidnap me.
  • Jacob Marley Warning: Hidokei Wald's rant to Stacy about avoiding a singing, dancing pirate can only make sense in context.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Setchan sings a couple of the lyrics to Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger's opening when the team is about to finish off Hidokei Wald, particularly referencing the time-travelling adventure he just had.
Setchan: The hope that transcends time~!
    • Additionally the Zenkaigers Title Drop the name of Zyuranger's ending theme after defeating Hidokei Wald.
  • Never the Selves Shall Meet: Averted for present-Setchan, who teams up with his past self to beat Hidokei Wald to a pulp when he attempts to freeze Flint to prevent the Zenkaiju Gear's creation.
  • Out of Focus: The Goldtsuikers are barely in focus this episode, getting only a few scenes in the second half.
  • Recap Episode: The episode is essentially a disguise for the annual Sentai Clip Show, as Setchan recaps what had happened in Zenkaiger up until the team meets Hidokei Wald.
  • Running Gag: The various Tozitend members shooting down Hikoukei Wald, mistaking him as an enemy, having no patience for his attempts at explanation or just plain not caring.
