Tropes

  • Achilles in His Tent: Hikaru retreats to the karate dojo, attempting to make sense of his feelings regarding Tasuke's and Kimiko's deaths as Sakura arrives to console him.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Akaishi does this to Daiji, who doesn't seem too receptive to it.
  • The Cameo: The two Weekend members demonstrating the mass-produced Demons Drivers are played by veteran suit actors Jun Watanabe (who serves as the series' action director) and Eitoku (Vice).
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: While Ikki and Vice lay the smackdown on Akaishi and Vail, Ikki tells Vice towards the end to be extra careful not to kill Vail because it might affect Genta as well.
  • Coincidental Dodge: Played in a serious way, Akaishi was about to be destroyed when he had a flashback, prompting him to cower and quake in fear, which enables him to dodge the finisher of Revi and Vice.
  • Internal Reveal: Genta and Yukimi learn about Ikki disappearing from photos.
  • Men of Sherwood: The Demons Trooper Corps generally acquit themselves in their on-screen debut, able to fight off hordes of Giff Juniors and even Gifftarians. They only really start losing once Vail and Akaishi get involved personally.
  • Motive Rant: Akaishi launches into one in his fight with Revi, though in this case he's primarily attempting to explain Giff's motives.
Akaishi: Master Giff has long desired coexistence with humanity, ever since his arrival on Earth eons ago! However, the humans feared, loathed and exploited him!
Revi: Are you saying that it was humanity's fault?!
Akaishi: Yes, exactly! Before Master Giff could destroy our race, I struck a bargain with him, vowing to oversee humanity's progress! Even then! Humanity continued to repeat the same mistakes, time and time again! Their foolishness knows no bounds...!
  • Necessarily Evil: Ikki believes Kagero was this for Daiji, and with him out of the picture, there's no one to inhibit the latter's twisted sense of justice.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Genta is absolutely livid in this episode. Not only is his son Daiji in the clutches of Akaishi, he also discovers that Ikki and Vice have been hiding the family photos that Ikki has disappeared from. The straw that breaks the camel's back is seeing Vail rampaging. This prompts him to approach George so he can settle his feud with Vail once and for all.
  • The Reveal: Akaishi reveals that Vail was near death after his fight with Junpei 25 years ago, but had his life extended due to Giff. As shown with his body breaking down, Vail is rapidly approaching his limit.
  • Wham Shot: The episode ends with Masumi entering the fray with a Weekend Driver and activating the Tricera Vistamp... followed by a whole new stamp page.
  • You Have Failed Me: Giff suddenly manifests in the middle of Akaishi's office and makes his displeasure known by attacking Akaishi and Daiji.
