Recap / Kaeloo Pilot

Go To

Kaelou, a frog, wants to play a game of Red Light, Green Light, 1, 2, 3 with her friends Stumpy the squirrel, Quack Quack the duck, and Mr. Cat the cat. Every time Kaelou turns her back, Mr. Cat subjects Quack Quack to some sort of abuse.

"Pilot" contains the following tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: Stumpy needs to beat Quack Quack to the finish line. He sees a pair of roller skates and a chainsaw nearby and gets an idea... putting the chainsaw on the ground, sitting on its handle and letting it drag him along the ground, rather than use the skates.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • The animation is nowhere near that of the rest of the series.
    • Kaeloo sounds like a grown man instead of a young female and Bad Kaeloo has a vocal sac.
    • Mr. Cat refers to the rest of the cast as "study kids", implying that he thinks that they're annoying because they're nerdy. In the actual show, Mr. Cat is a highly intelligent Child Prodigy who's well-versed in science, math, psychology and engineering.
    • Stumpy wins the game, whereas the actual show has a Running Gag where Stumpy loses at everything.
  • Here We Go Again!: In the end, Kaeloo transforms all over again with the intention of beating Mr. Cat up.
  • Hockey Mask and Chainsaw: Mr. Cat uses these when chopping off Quack Quack's arms.
  • Instant Bandages: Bandages appear on Mr. Cat's body while Bad Kaeloo beats him up.
  • Pilot
  • Spoiler Opening: The intro pretty much sums up the entire plot.
  • You're Cute When You're Angry: Said almost word-for-word by Mr. Cat to Kaeloo.
