Recap / Justice League Action S 1 E 5 Its A Trap

Go To

Superman runs out to face off against Lex Luthor and rescue his captive, "Brie Gruyere," but it runs into a snag.

  • Batman Gambit:
    • Lex explains that his extremely complicated plan was dependent on him carefully studying every detail of his most hated enemy.
    • Superman's plan is far more simple that Lex's. Knowing going in it's a trap, he just needs Lex to stay in place for the girder he threw into the air to fall back down. His gambit depended on Lex not being able to shut up when questioned about all this.
  • Fridge Logic: In-Universe. Regarding Luthor's plans, which include a very specific trap in a very specific part of a very specific building and relies on Superman having exactly the same thought process Luthor thought he would.
Superman: This was your plan? What if I hadn't even landed on the ground when I first got here? What if I just picked you up and flew you into the stratosphere? How could you know I would knock you into this floor, of this specific building?
  • Ironic Echo: "Know thine enemy."
  • Mundane Solution: When taken to bare essentials, Luthor's plan boils down to... beat up Superman with a wooden baseball bat that has some chunks of green Kryptonite in it.
Superman: You just lodged... a chunk of Kryptonite... into a stick.
  • Take That!: An extended one against Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with its rather ridiculous planning and weaponry.
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Deconstructed. Lex going on and on about how brilliant his trap was allows the girder to fall on him before he can kill Superman.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: To Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with Luthor taking the role of Batman.
