Recap / Justice League Action S 1 E 4 Good Cop Bat Cop

Go To

The League has Deadshot in the Watchtower and must interrogate him. Batman plans to go in first, but Superman says they always do the Good Cop/Bad Cop routine with Batman as the Bad Cop. He suggests they switch it up.

Deadshot starts out amused and nonplussed at the usually sunny, friendly and polite Superman trying to be threatening. He just can't take it seriously.

Batman, however, pulling the Good Cop is also unbelievable, but Deadshot is freaked out at being offered coffee and donuts, to say nothing of being smiled at by the usually grim-faced Batman.

Deadshot: Why are you showing me your teeth?!

Firestorm, still the newbie, was watching from outside until the villain leapt to confess, and walked off, impressed, but still having trouble with the villain's name.

Tropes:

  • Does Not Know His Own Strength: In the midst of trying to be aggressive, Superman accidentally breaks the nearby window from slamming the door too hard.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: Superman does his best to act aggressive to Deadshot during the interrogation while Batman acts nice. Unfortunately, Clark hasn't learned how to even fake being mean, so he can't intimidate a paper bag. Batman has the opposite problem, with his attempts to be pleasant instead coming off as unnerving and freaking Deadshot out.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Deadshot is so unnerved by Batman's friendly attitude that he offers to talk just to make it stop.
  • Swapped Roles: Superman normally does the Good Cop while Batman plays the Bad Cop, but they switch it up at Superman's request. Neither are particular good at their new roles, but Batman fails so badly that he gets Deadshot to talk anyway.
