After managing to rescue Pierce at the cost of a chance to escape the island, the kids are not given long to recover before Mae learns that one of her coworkers, Kash, has arrived on the island and he has some cruel and horrifying plans for the dinosaurs…
- Bandage Wince: After being injured by a Velociraptor, Dr. Turner visibly winces as Brooklynn gives her first aid.
- It's Personal: Kash turns out to be the man who blackmailed Sammy's family. When Sammy hears he's on the island, she's OUTRAGED, and tries to go after him immediately.
- Kick the Dog: When one of the B.R.A.D.s can't give Kash the information he wants, he kicks it into a frozen lake in a rage.
- Mistaken Death Confirmation: Kash thinks Dr. Turner was killed by a Velociraptor after finding her shredded jacket.
- Out of the Frying Pan: When Dr. Turner seems poised to deliver the usual Off with His Head! treatment to one of the B.R.A.D.s, a Velociraptor flattens the robot and then badly injures her... and then it's joined by a packmate. They prove to be far more efficient and dangerous hunters than the B.R.A.D.s, immediately cornering the entire group... and even after the raptors are chased off, two more B.R.A.D.s show up, forcing everyone to flee the area anyway.
- Raptor Attack: It turns out the island has a pair of Velociraptor that Kash uses to hunt Dr. Turner down.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: A more realistic version; Dr. Turner has isolated the sounds Pierce makes in various situations, and recorded them on a tablet to allow her to communicate with the Kentrosaurus. Most of the sounds are to establish simple concepts like "Calm", "Scared", and "Friend".
- Villain Respect: Kash is very impressed by Dr. Turner's research, and how far it's come in a relatively short time.
