Bravo Dooby-Doo

Original air date: 7/21/1997 (produced in 1996)

After his car breaks down when paying a visit to his Aunt Jebidisa, Johnny is given a ride by Mystery, Inc, who help him try to find his aunt upon noticing her disappearance at her home, all the while trying to evade a Ghostly Gardener.

Bravo Dooby-Doo contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Jerkass: The gang appeared to have no qualms about stranding Johnny in the woods, especially considering it was done to make up for getting in the way of Aunt Jebidisa's attempt to scare Johnny away.
  • Bookends: At the end of the episode, Johnny is offered a lift by another Hanna-Barbera character, this time by Speed Buggy.
  • Blind Without Them: Parodied when both Velma and Johnny lose their glasses.
Velma: My glasses! I can't see without my glasses!
Johnny: My glasses! I can't be seen without my glasses!
  • Cast as a Mask: Aunt Jebidisa is voiced by B. J. Ward, while her disguise as the Ghostly Gardener is voiced by Greg Burson.
  • Creator Cameo: Joe Barbera appears as one of Aunt Jebidisa's disguises when the gang unmasks her.
  • Crossover: With Scooby-Doo, later Speed Buggy.
  • Dirty Old Woman: The episode ends with Aunt Jebidisa flirting with Shaggy.
  • Evil Aunt: Played with. Aunt Jebidisa is more of a Jerkass who hates her own nephew and tried to scare him away, though she did try to assault him and Mystery, Inc with a weed wacker.
  • Falling Chandelier of Doom: The Ghostly Gardener is defeated when Johnny drops a chandelier on him.
  • Multilayer Façade: Under the Ghostly Gardener mask are masks of Professor Hyde White, Harry the Hypnotist, Bigfoot, Don Knotts, and Joe Barbera before finally revealing Aunt Jebidisa's face.
  • Shout-Out: Johnny nicknames Shaggy "Jughead".
