Recap / J-WITCH S2 E13, "Clash of the Titanics"

Go To

The J-WITCH team and the Knights of Vengeance clash in the deep ocean when the Thunder Demon Chi awakens on the wreck of the Titanic. Meanwhile, Alchemy travels to Meridian to collect an important ingredient for a spell.

  • Adaptational Badass: Will finds that her Quintessence allows her to commune with animals through their life-force, something there was never any sign of her being able to do canonically.
  • Adaptational Context Change: As in canon, the heroes take a piece of Shendu's stone form to use in a spell they're devising for Drago because of their familial DNA. However, while in canon it was Jade doing this for a spell to block Drago from absorbing the Demon Chi, here it's Alchemy doing it for a tracking spell.
  • Adaptation Name Change: In canon, the Thunder Demon Chi is found aboard an Expy of the Titanic called the Oceanic. Here, it's very specifically the actual Titanic.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: As per canon, the chapter ends with the villains successfully stealing the Thunder Demon Chi.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: It's noted that Shendu's cell in the Infinite City is unusually cold, which is probably because of the demon himself, Ratso lampshading how weird it is since he's the Demon Sorcerer of Fire.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Hak Foo is the one who ends up claiming the Thunder Demon Chi, instead of Drago taking it for himself.
  • Home Field Advantage: Irma is shown to be at a massive advantage during the fight on the Titanic due to the fighting taking place in the middle of the ocean, at one point even conjuring a giant facsimile of herself. Unfortunately, all that water makes a perfect conductor when Hak Foo gains the Thunder Demon Chi, and he manages to electrocute her through it.
  • Internal Reveal: Phobos confirms to Elyon that he didn't kill their parents, and that he never found out who did.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Will gets the willies when Nerissa uses Quintessence on the Titanic.
  • Person as Verb: Irma refers to Uncle sneaking along on the submarine despite being told to stay behind because of his cold as him "pulling a Jade".
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: When Elyon, Alchemy, and the Enforcers visit the imprisoned Shendu to get a DNA sample for the tracking spell they're creating to find Drago, he starts mocking them, specifically focusing on the Enforcers' history of incompetence. However, Elyon just tells him to shut up and not bother with mind games when they won't be there long, and when they're leaving the Enforcers take the time to mock him.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Alchemy gives Elyon a hug and pep talk after the former sees her brother in the cells of the Infinite City, torn over believing him when he says that he didn't kill their parents.
