Recap / J-WITCH S1 E36, "The Battle for Meridian Plains"

Go To

With the Infinite City discovered by Phobos, the rebels and their allies are forced to launch a full-scale assault on the castle.

  • Bare-Handed Blade Block: When Caleb and Aldarn swing their swords at Hak Foo, he catches the blades with his hands.
  • The Cavalry: Section 13 serves as this again, as the Guardians bring in their forces (complete with jeeps and helicopters) to help back up the overwhelmed Rebellion during the attack on the castle. If not for Elyon's intervention, they would have won thanks to this.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: As in canon, Hay Lin has this power, and dreams of Shendu threatening Elyon.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Phobos has done many questionable things in the name of maintaining order, but destroying Castle Town's water supply is something that makes him feel dirty.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite the Rebellion's precautions, Tarakudo is able to help Phobos' forces find the entrance to the Infinite City and kick off the desperate attack on the castle.
  • Necessarily Evil: Phobos name-drops this trope while fighting Jackie during the battle, defending his actions as ruler of Meridian as this.
  • Revealing Cover-Up: The Guardians having destroyed Cavigor so thoroughly comes back to bite them, as it allows Tarakudo to posit that they managed to enter via an underground tunnel, allowing him to track down the Infinite City and the rebel base.
  • War Is Hell: At least two hundred rebels die in the battle, and even before that is revealed it's clear that it's a chaotic mess.
  • Wham Episode: Aside from Hay Lin's dream vision of Shendu threatening Elyon, hundreds of rebels die in the failed attack on the castle, and Captain Black is among those captured when Elyon intervenes.
