Mallow's brother returns for a bread festival while it's Open House for the Ghoul School.
This arc contains examples of:
- Abhorrent Admirer: Phantasma acts like this towards Specter who repeatedly tells her that she is not his ghoul-friend.
- Actor Allusion: Phantasma serenades Specter via a song on a ukelele. Phantasma's VA Russi Taylor was able to play a ukelele. Moreover, the song originated from Russi Taylor's most famous as Minnie Mouse.
- Ambiguous Syntax: After Phantasma sings her song to Specter while strumming a ukelele, her father comments that she put her soul into it. Specter asks if she put her soul into the ukelele...which gets a rise out of Phantasma as she cackles in glee.
- Cuteness Proximity: Zossie falls in love with Nina's Alolan Raichu and decides she'll get her own.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: When Easter takes over, they ask Elsa to put them through electric torture. When Elsa notes that they're going to have to be tied down for it, Easter enthusiastically says yes. Who knew a lighting bolt was into BDSM?
- Dragged Off to Hell: Luanne apparently did this to the abusive passenger who destroyed her and threw her heart into a bog.
- Dramatic Thunder: Whenever someone says "Dr. Killjoy", thunder and lightning flash after. London even lampshades that Dr. Killjoy must've been something to warrant that. Easter even exploits it by muttering "Dr. Killjoy" over and over.
- Epic Fail: Zossie's first attempt at throwing a Poké ball fails. Thankfully the Alolan Raichu thought it was funny and decides to be caught on the second throw.
- Framing Device: The White Gestalt's adventure in the Ghoul School is through Larkspur seeing through Lin's eyes.
- Hurricane of Puns: Just like in the movie, there are a lot of puns thrown about.
- Lame Pun Reaction: Specter easily gets aggravated by the constant puns the Ghoul School girls keep spouting.
- Leeroy Jenkins: Zossie rushes to capture an Alolan Raichu instead of taking Ash's advice to slowly approach them.
- Mundane Utility:
- For the clean-up of Open House, Tokio uses his boomerang to make a tornado to gather dust, London uses his limited telekinesis to hang decorations and Gladion has Silvally uses a Water Memory for washing.
- Deconstructed with Easter. Apparently, they tried to use the lightning bolts to speed up cooking and ended up causing an explosion in the kitchen and only aggravating Specter's hatred of them even more.
- Named by the Adaptation: The Mummy goes by "Imhotep" and the Phantom is now "Eric".
- Oven Logic: Easter tried using their lightnings in this matter; it ends up making a mess in the kitchen instead.
- The Reveal: If Specter and Easter don't split up soon, Easter will eventually consume Specter's sense of self and he'll never leave the Train. The only way for this to stop is if Specter is able to let go of his inner pain and tell Easter he doesn't need help.
- Serenade Your Lover: Phantasma does this to Specter who does not appreciate this.
- Shout-Out:
- The car is a reference to Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School.
- Phantasma's song is "Carried Away" from the 2013 Mickey Mouse shorts which were sung by Russi Taylor's most well-known role, Minnie Mouse.
- The story Lin states of her sister Luanne is from the 35MM: A Musical Exhibition song "Leave Luanne".
- London states that being called Dr. Killjoy isn't as bad as being called Isaac Yankem DDS.
