The Marks become the Con artists.

Harry and Carlton from New Recruits want revenge for the gang stealing money from them months prior, and to do that, they've hired a crack-team of former marks who've also been burned by the crew.

Tropes

  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: This is notably the only episode where the marks interact like this (the first time as a Call-Back to Carlton's debut episode), in one scene Carlton does an Aside Glance much the same way the crew do when events unfold.
  • Call-Back:
    • A few to New Recruits:
      • The Breaking the Fourth Wall sequence of Mickey, Emma and Ash talking about Harry and Carlton while the latter throws water into the formers' face is mirrored where the marks do the same thing to the crew where Emma is throwing money up in the air in a similar fashion while the marks recount the ways they had all been had.
      • Emma uses the same wig as when she posed as a PR representative in that episode to get Alfie's attention and the two million pounds back from him.
    • The oft-talked-about-but-never-seen Sydney Opera House con is used as a backstory for one of the marks.
  • The Ditz: Alfie, whose a rich idiot who is very spaced out half the time, and doesn't fully understand what he's doing.
  • Epic Fail: Their plan to con the gang fails for one driving reason; the ad Harry placed in the newspaper was seen by the gang, and it never crossed Harry's mind that they'd use the newspaper to scout for marks.
  • The Reveal: The marks Harry and Carlton had used as a part of their scheme to con the gang? They're in on it, and are relaying info back to the crew as the con progresses. The gang knew about the con because Harry had stupidly placed an ad to gather up former marks and never vetted their stories properly.
  • Sequel Episode: To New Recruits; the Marks are from that episode, and are plotting their revenge to take down the crew who conned them.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Said almost word for word by Carlton at the end. Harry didn't think the gang would read newspapers, and placed an ad for people burned by the crew in there. While Alfie is such a ditz, it's a wonder he knows where he is at all times, and the fact he's so easily taken by red heads. In essence, the gang knew every step of the way that they were being conned, and they went along with it, not because of the money; but because it's a game to them, and seeing Carlton's fuming face would be hilarious.
  • Tranquil Fury: For a man who shouts "ARSE!" as a curse word, Carlton is quite a lot more level-headed than in the last time we saw him, although he clearly has his limits, as revealed by the end of the episode, as well as any talk he has with Alfie.
