- Call-Forward: Makoto watches the same video of his family that would later be used for his motive video, albeit without the Naegi household in ruins and Monokuma's promise of "graduation".
- Green-Eyed Monster: After overhearing Makoto watching his video, Kyoko feels jealous over his loving and stable family while hers isn't so happy.
- Last-Name Basis: Kyoko makes it perfectly clear to Makoto that he only refers to her by last name.
Makoto: Thanks a lot for helping us out here, Kyoko…
- Rage Breaking Point: While trying to help Makoto with his door, Sayaka gets so angry that she starts kicking the door out of frustration.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Sayaka calls Kyoko out on being rude to Makoto when he calls her by her first name.
Sayaka: What’s your deal?
Kyoko: Hmmm?
(Sayaka stands in front of Kyoko's dorm room door.)
Kyoko: Would you be so kind as to step away from my door, Maizono?
Sayaka: No! Not until you explain yourself. Why were you so mean to Makoto before? I can understand being uncomfortable with a boy you just met calling you by your first name, but you could have been a little gentler about it.
You owe him an apology tomorrow!
Kyoko: I don’t owe anybody anything. Or did you forget that I’m the one who got his door open? Now, step away from my door, Maizono.
(Sayaka moves out of the way.)
Sayaka: I feel sorry for you, Kirigiri. You seem to have no friends, and you push away whoever tries to be your friend. Makoto’s too kind to say it, so I will in his stead; you’re a jerk, Kirigiri!
