While Lewis and the old woman involved in the car accident are in the hospital, Danvers muses on who to charge. Meanwhile, Bayliss and Mike reluctantly team up with Knoll to go to Florida and find their fugitive.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Drives Like Crazy: Discussed - Lewis tells Giardello he's no longer the worst driver in the Homicide unit, and Mike has replaced him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Errico admits he's a drug dealer, but he's indignant about being charged with murder, saying he would never shoot anybody, and he insists the car accident wasn't his fault.
  • It's All My Fault: Mike blames himself for the car accident, though he also says Johnson, the bounty hunter who skipped bail, was partly responsible.
  • Mood Whiplash: Giardello and Stivers go from being relieved that Lewis is awake and well to being despondent after finding out the woman in the crash died.
  • Saying Too Much: When he overhears Ballard and Shepherd talking about how Falsone forgot his wallet at their date, Gharty goes on a tirade about how women are hypocritical when it comes to paying for anything. As Ballard and Shepherd look on in stunned silence, Gharty admits he's having his divorce hearing with his ex-wife and he's a little nervous.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Two-Part Episode
  • Xanatos Gambit: Mike suggests Knoll call up Errico's mother to offer to send money to him to fly back in Baltimore, and Mike and the other detectives would grab Errico at the Western Union office. It works.
