Hilda, David and Frida set out to find a rare plant to get their botany badge. Instead, they encounter a lost clan of Elves known as the Bragga, who have a longstanding rivalry with Alfur's clan over a mistaken contract, and end up taking David hostage unless Hilda, Frida, and Alfur find a way to solve the feud. This sends them on an adventure to find a lindworm to destroy the contract after Alfur claims it is the only way an elf contract can be revoked.

Tropes.

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: The elves of the lost clan have this mentality, attacking the three protagonists when they haven't done anything yet.
  • Beard of Evil: Bartell has a beard, something most other elves lack. And he's initially quite a jerk who refuses to end the feud between his family and the other elves.
  • Cue the Flying Pigs: Discussed; When Alfur compares the loophole about a lindworm destroying a contract to "when cows fly", Hilda corrects him that the proper saying is "when pigs fly". Alfur points out that happens with some regularity.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The lost clan elves take David hostage in order to get Hilda and Frida to solve the elf feud. However, they have no idea on what to do with David since this hostage situation is their first, leading to some awkward interactions.
  • Elemental Embodiment: The water spirit is composed entirely of water.
  • Feuding Families: The Bragga and the Aldric, all because of a mistake with a contract they once tried to sign.
  • Hostage Situation: The Bragga take David hostage to ensure Hilda and Frida will come back with a solution to the conflict. David doesn't mind since he considers to be safer than whatever Hilda and Frida will probably end up in.
  • Loophole Abuse: Frida points out how contracts always have loopholes, and offers to try and find one to settle the feud between the Bragga and Aldric peacefully. They settle for trying to have the contract destroyed by a lindworm. However, the Lindworm is well aware of this "loophole" and initially does not have it, only doing so after Hilda and Frida give her the planets they collected.
  • Mundane Luxury: The plants Frida and David collect for their badge are common urban flora, so Hilda dismisses them. The Lindworm however loves these plants since she's unable to get some urban plants to her island.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: The ancient meeting between the Aldric and Bragga families was about signing a real estate contract, but Alfur presents it as an epic battle. Justified, considering how much Serious Business paperwork is for Elves.
  • The Nose Knows: Bartell is able to identify Alfur as a member of the Aldric family simply by smelling him.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: The lindworm is not so much a worm but more a species of dragon. It even refers to it's powers as being drake-given, and mentions "other dragons".
  • So Much for Stealth: When Hilda tries to get the contract destroyed by holding it close to the nose of a sleeping Lindworm, she staps on a twig, instantly waking the creature.
  • Trial by Combat: The Bragga decide to end the feud by having Alfur fight all ten of the Bragga rabbit warriors. Hilda is willing to go along with it, but Frida interferes.
  • Weather Report: The weather forecasts in Trolberg are accurate to the second, as proven when Hilda checks the forecast to see if she and her friends can go out to find the plants they need.
