Recap / High Guardian Spice Festival Of Fall Part 2

Go To

Olive screws up and the entire town is turned to stone, along with Parsley. Smokeface insists on killing the other guardians now.

  • Bittersweet Ending: Olive’s spell is reversed and no one died during the whole thing. However, Rosemary and Sage’s friendship is still on the rocks due to their earlier fight and Thyme lost the bottle of magical water.
  • Critical Hesitation Blunder: Rosemary gets shocked after injuring Olive with her sword, due to only fighting monsters before, which lets her get away.
  • Curse Escape Clause: Amaryllis tells others that crystallized spells should have a deactivation process of some sort. Sage just breaks it, and it undoes the petrification, with all the citizens none the wiser.
  • Digital Avatar: While Amaryllis and Snapdragon are playing a VR game, they are represented by Super-Deformed versions of themselves.
  • Grew a Spine: Snapdragon tells Amaryllis they are tired of being bossed around and in the end dismiss her next invitation to hang out.
  • Gun Twirling: Amaryllis swings her magic wand around which accidentally discharges at a petrified bird, killing it. The cast pretends it never happened.
  • Kung-Fu Wizard: Olive, wielding a Magic Staff, duels Rosemary, wielding the sword of her choice. Rosemary loses in close combat and Olive didn't even have to use magic. Still, being injured in the arm causes Olive to lose strength shortly after.
  • Hidden Depths: Olive shows increasing discomfort seeing kids being caught in the crossfire.
  • Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: After saying harsh things earlier, Sage decides she prefers Snapdragon's company more than Rosemary's.
  • Sinister Surveillance: Before leaving, Olive drops that the city has a lot of other spies, which discourages the girls from contacting the Academy's staff.
  • Timed Mission: Olive is told she has until morning to finish the job or Triumvirate will get rid of her.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Olive considers a dash attack against Rosemary because she's unarmed. She had her sword inside the costume the entire time and nearly cuts Olive in half.
  • Villain Ball:
    • With everyone in town turned to stone, potentially hundreds of strong wizards, Smokeface... asks Olive to undo the spell after she's finished because they may catch too much attention (again, there are just 5 teens standing) and focus on capturing the protagonists because they may figure out their plans (they didn't even know there is an Evil Plan and Thyme wanted to take the healing water with her).
    • Olive brings up that with everyone being petrified, it would be bad if she makes an explosion. Even if she didn't plan on killing anyone, instead of taking the hostage opportunity and making the guardians surrender, she plays tag with Rosemary and eventually loses.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Olive drops the petrification crystal but uses another to teleport away.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Despite earlier animosity, Thyme hugs her mom after seeing her turned to stone.
