Recap / Harley Quinn (2019) S4 E2 "B.I.T.C.H."

Go To

Talia al Ghul takes over Wayne Enterprises and intends to cut spending, including Alfred's job.

Tropes:

  • Battle Butler: Alfred shows why he's the butler to the Bat Family when he easily fends off Harley's attacks with a simple broom.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Alfred engineered the robbery as an excuse to get himself arrested and sent to Blackgate so he can be reunited with Bruce. It never occurred to him that he might not be sent to the same prison as one of the wealthiest men in Gotham.
  • Doesn't Know Their Own Child: Talia doesn't recognize her own son Damien (even when he's in his Robin outfit) after years of not seeing him and even goes shopping for baby-stuff, asking the cashier what size pacifier is appropriate for a twelve year-old.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Harley missed all the signs in the Batcave about not killing until they were pointed out to her.
  • Fun with Acronyms: The Title Drop, where Alfred cites being a B.I.T.C.H. as a way to deal with stressful situations:
    Breathe
    Identify the Problem
    Tea Break
    Consider your options
    Handle it
  • Gift for an Outgrown Interest: Talia wants to buy a pacifier for her son Damian, not even bothering to remember his age or recognize the fact that her son is now a grown boy now.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Alfred robs a bank, gets caught, and intends to get sent to Blackgate to be with Bruce again, but Alfred finds out he's actually going to Arkham where he will be rehabilitated.
  • Has a Type: Nora instantly becomes infatuated by Captain Cold and his freezing hands.
  • Odd Friendship: Harley and Alfred develop one over the course of the episode. When she puts it together that he plans on robbing a bank, she can't help but be giddy at him for being a "sneaky little minx."
  • Shown Their Work: Ivy's whole explanation about male trees being used for landscaping because the fruit female trees produce is considered messy but the male trees producing pollen that aggravates allergies, especially when there are no female trees to soak up the pollen, is completely accurate.
  • Trojan Prisoner: Alfred robs a bank and has Harley be the one to arrest him so he can get into Blackgate and see Bruce Wayne. Unfortunately, he failed to check which prison applies to his net worth.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Going off the previous episode, Nightwing and Batgirl scold Harley for not following their no-kill rule.
  • Worthy Opponent: Talia al Ghul and Poison Ivy come to see each other as fellow evil businesswomen and corporate rivals.
  • You Have Failed Me: Being a lifelong assassin, Talia's go-to for anyone she fires is to throw a knife in their face. Alfred expects he won't survive his own pink-slip from the way things are going.

Talia And Damian

When Talia returns to the Bat Family, she fails to realize that Damian is a grown boy now, thinking he would still be in diapers. She also has no idea how to be a mother and buys presents that are completely inappropriate for his age, like a pacifier and a rattle.
