The town is suffering from a string of bank robberies by cheerleaders. Kevin recognizes the colors of the skirts to be the same as the colors from the cheerleader uniforms at his and Fred's high school. In order to gain more evidence, Kevin enlists Fred to go undercover at the cheerleader tryouts and investigate what's going on.
Tropes:
- Academic Athlete: Fred is incredibly athletic, especially for someone as nerdy as her. Fred was a skilled gymnast a couple of years prior, but quit because she was told to smile during her performance.
- Call-Back: As Kevin notes that cheerleaders robbing banks is crazy, Fred is quick to point out the sentient mustache from the previous episode.
- Closet Geek: As it turns out, Naya and the rest of the cheerleader squad are fans of Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 just as much as Fred is.
- Crush Blush: Kevin's cheeks turn tomato red as Hiromi uses her own size to see if Fred would fit the cheerleading outfit Kevin was trying... popping up between his arms as Kevin still holds the cheerleading outfit.
- A Day in the Limelight: Fred is given a chance to shine as she helps Gretel and Kevin investigate the cheerleaders.
- Dressed in Layers: Fred apparently wore her regular outfit under her cheerleader outfit, with flesh-colored leggings to obscure her pants, and a wig to hide that she didn't change her hair. Naya lampshades this (including the leggings!) when asking questions to Fred.
- Evil Teacher: Coach Haggerty turns out to be the mastermind behind the bank robberies, using mind control on the cheerleaders to do her bidding.
- Funny Background Event: While Fred and Gretel are talking in the gym lockers, Hamster is in the background pulling out ridiculous stuff from one of the lockers.
- Hidden Depths: Fred shows herself to have incredible gymnastic skills and a fan of anime. She's also impervious to tickling.
- Irony:
- As she's defeated, Coach Haggerty proclaims in rage that she hates cheerleaders... yet she's a cheerleading coach who mind-controls the cheerleader squad and relies on their acrobatic skills to rob banks.
- Additionally, the mind control used on the cheerleaders breaks with loud, jarring, rhythmic sounds or music. In other words, the cheerleaders are "defeated" with cheerleader music. Sounds like Coach Haggerty didn't quite think everything through.
- Magical Girl Warrior: The Magical Girl anime Fred is into, Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 features superhero cheerleaders fighting a giant Kaiju at a football field.
- Mind Control: Coach Haggerty uses a special whistle (that she designed herself) to hypnotize the cheerleaders. She plans to hypnotize the entire school and commit multiple bank robberies at once.
- Mind-Control Eyes: Anyone hypnotized by Coach Haggerty's whistle will have rippling grey disks in their eyes.
- Mind-Control Music: Inverted. Loud, rhythmic music breaks the mind control.
- Ninja Prop: Twice during this episode, Gretel has to remove the "X Punch!" graphics that are still floating around after they've appeared.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: Fred does look a lot more conventionally attractive in a cheerleader outfit and with her hair redone. Subverted when it turns out in the end, Fred was wearing a full cheerleading costume over her regular outfit (including flesh-colored leggings to cover her long pants and sleeves, and a wig to hide her regular hair under).
- That Makes Me Feel Angry: Gretel tries to make Fred laugh by hitting Hamster with a Pie in the Face, but all Fred does is say "That was very funny" in her usual monotone.
