Russell and his crew are out on a cruise when a terrible accident has them stranded in the Arctic. With dwindling rations and a ominous orca, will the Tree Friends get back to civilization?
"Snow Place to Go" contains the following:
- Accidental Murder: Russell accidentally sticks a hook in Toothy while fishing. He somehow manages to pull out Toothy's entire nervous system in a graphic display.
- Companion Cube: Flaky finds a garden gnome in the wreckage of Russell's ship, and becomes creepily attached to it as she suffers Sanity Slippage.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Toothy's nerves are pulled out of his body by Russell's fishing hook.
- Downer Ending: Two interpretations, depending on what you think happened to Lumpy:
- Lumpy succumbs to the elements, and everyone else perished regardless.
- Lumpy somehow found civilization off-screen, but no one else is left alive for it to make a difference.
- Half the Man He Used to Be: Cuddles and Russell get masticated in half by a giant orca.
- Hope Spot:
- Giggles finds a can of beans that can just maybe prolong their survival, cue a mast crushing her alive.
- Russell manages to reach a small island, believing he managed to escape the orca. Then the orca reaches shore and takes a bite out of him.
- Out of Focus: Russell is the starring character but only becomes relevant in the last few minutes of the episode.
- Sanity Slippage: Flaky slowly becomes insane over time and starts cradling her garden gnome as if it's alive.
- Shown Their Work: It's actually fairly common for Orca to beach themselves to obtain prey. Check here
. - Shoutout: Flaky's garden gnome is an obvious nod to Wilson from Cast Away.
- Sole Survivor: Lumpy is the only surviving crew member.
- The Tooth Hurts: Toothy cracks open his left buck tooth after gnawing a can of beans in hopes of opening it. Just after that, Toothy bites into a pile of snow — with his tooth's exposed nerves touching it.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Flaky, Russell, Cuddles, Toothy, and Giggles die.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Lumpy survives.
