- Accidental Pun: During the lesson on broken bones:Narrator: Well, we can fix that in a snap! Uh, no pun intended.
- Affectionate Parody: Of the How to... Goofy shorts. Both feature a good-natured bumbler trying to learn the ropes of something with the aid of a narrator, with hilarity ensuing. Only the hilarity in this episode is a lot deadlier and gorier than in the Goofy shorts.
- Art Shift: The episode is in a less pastel and rounded, more paper-like art style with a filter that evokes a 1950s instructional short.
- Banana Peel: Lumpy finds one near the lever controlling the ski lift speed and decides to remove it, in the process accidentally hitting the lever with his backpack and sending the skiers flying to their deaths.
- Brick Joke:
- After Lumpy's attempt at administering oxygen to Toothy, the oxygen tank flies away like an untied balloon when the gas inside is released. After Lumpy crashes Cuddles into an ambulance, the oxygen tank reappears, also crashing into the ambulance and blowing it up.
- In the same scene, Toothy gets inflated by the oxygen and floats away. When Lumpy raises the ski patrol flag at the end of the episode, Toothy floats back in and gets popped by the sharp top of the flag pole.
- Comically Inept Healing: Lumpy, while attempting to make a splint for Cuddles' broken leg, ties the splint way too hard, which ends up constricting and further splintering Cuddles' leg bone so badly that he passes out from the pain.
- Fast-Forward Gag: When Lumpy is learning how to apply lip balm, the film skips and the instructions go straight to step 37, which somehow concerns open heart surgery and not lip balm application. After Lumpy freaks out from the situation he suddenly finds himself in, the film skips again to step 127, which is about lip balm again.
- Inflating Body Gag: This happens to Toothy when Lumpy tries to administer oxygen to him and turns the valve too much. Toothy floats off, then returns at the end of the episode to get popped by the flag pole Lumpy is raising the ski patrol flag on.
- Instructional Film: The episode is a parody of a ski patrol training video starring Lumpy, where the narrator keeps praising him for his good work despite how his bumbling keeps killing the people he's trying to help.
- Interactive Narrator: At one point, Lumpy gives the narrator (or rather the camera) an unamused look after the narrator makes a bad pun.
- Lame Pun Reaction: Lumpy gives an unamused glare when the narrator jokes that if he wants to join the ski patrol, he needs to be in "peak" condition.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Cuddles, Giggles, Toothy, Petunia, and Flaky die.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Lumpy survives.
