- Hypocritical Humor: After Puss in Boots is done giving his history lesson about Jeanne D'Arc, the party gets unsettled at the sight of a talking cat. Elena then points out that they had already met talking frogs and wolves before (referring to Frog Prince and La Bete the Beast).
- Fangirl: Alicia gets all ecstatic at meeting Puss in Boots. His tale is among her favorites because of his negotiation abilities and wits. Puss gets embarrassed.
- Our Gargoyles Are Different: Across Paris are scattered stone statues of Gargoyles watching over it. If a rebel tries to cause trouble, these will come to life and attack them. The Gargoyles are the Elite Mooks of this chapter.
