Nick is on the wrong side of the bars.

It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

Black Claw makes a strategic move against Hank that shocks everyone and sends Nick on a warpath. Hadrian's Wall ramps up their investigation as they seek out Bonaparte.

Meanwhile, Adalind and Capt. Renard must learn to deal with their new and very unpredictable reality with Diana.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Call-Back:
    • When Nick asks Tony how he hurt his fingers, Tony just says he tripped.
Nick: Over a Hexenbiest? Pretty, blonde, about this tall? [Tony looks startled] I bet you were feeling pretty tough at the time.
    • The address Monroe gets from Tony matches the address Meisner and Trubel got from the dead Black Claw agents' prints in "The Taming of the Wu".
  • Character Death: Every member of Hadrian's Wall, including Meisner.
  • Cliffhanger: Nick assaults Renard for his murder of Meisner and is arrested.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Bonaparte uses his power to telekinetically squeeze Meisner to death, taking his time and making it as painful as possible over Renard's protests. Finally, Renard ends it by shooting Meisner, clearly annoying Bonaparte.
Bonaparte: You are compassionate. And that's dangerous for all of us.
  • Foreshadowing: Rosalee has been feeling a little queasy lately. Hey, wonder if she's pregnant?
  • Frame-Up: The two Black Claw members Nick killed in "Bad Night" are left in Hank's house and a witness statement describes Hank leaving the house after shots were heard, so Hank is arrested by two detectives from North Precinct. However, Hank obviously didn't commit the murders, the witness is suddenly missing and the arrest hasn't been put in the system. When Nick goes to North Precinct to find Hank, the place is entirely staffed by Black Claw members and Hank isn't there.
  • Kansas City Shuffle: Having found where Hank is being held, Nick, Trubel and Eve go to rescue him. They're puzzled to find he's guarded by only two people, which leads them to realise that they've been drawn away from HW's base so Black Claw can raid it.
Eve: We're in the wrong place.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Diana "helpfully" murders Rachel on her mother's behalf, clearly believing she's the reason her parents aren't together.
Diana: She won't take Daddy away anymore.
  • No Holds Barred Beat Down: When the gang need the address where Hank is being held from Tony, Monroe is finally allowed that five minutes with Rosalee's ex he's been asking for. Tony is, well, still alive at the end, having given up the address. Waiting outside, Nick and Wu are clearly a little disturbed by the noises they're hearing through the door, while Rosalee is clearly trying not to enjoy it too much.
    Nick: Thanks, Monroe.
    Monroe: Oh, no. Thank you.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Tony, realising he's about to be left in a room with his ex's Blutbad husband.
    • Nick, Eve and Trubel, realising they've been lured away from HW so everyone there can be killed by Black Claw.
  • Rape by Proxy: It doesn't go that far, but Diana using Hollywood Voodoo to make her parents kiss certainly has this feel to it. Adalind has a talk with her daughter about this being unacceptable, but Diana changes the subject.
Adalind: She's the one doing this, not us!
Renard: What are you talking about? Diana?
Adalind: Oh, God! Do you really think that I just all of a sudden decided you were the hottest guy on Earth and couldn't wait to take my clothes off and hop into bed with you?
Renard: Well, I did just become Mayor...
Adalind: Well, I didn't vote for you!
  • Rule of Three: The gang get the address where Hank's being held, 521 Skyline Drive, from three different sources: the prints of three dead Black Claw members, the license plate of a truck that was lurking outside Monroe and Rosalee's house, and Tony. This is partly what makes Eve realise it's a setup.
  • Shipper on Deck: Diana very much wants her parents back together, and either doesn't understand that she can't force them to be in love or doesn't care how they feel about it. She uses Hollywood Voodoo to make them kiss until Adalind realises what's happening.
  • Taken for Granite: Bonaparte briefly turns Adalind to stone to force her to cooperate with her role as Renard's wife. It's apparently very painful.
  • Wham Shot: As Nick is locked in the jail cell for assaulting Renard, he can plainly see the Black Claw mark on the wall opposite.
