You should see the other guy.

Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change. The sun might shine or the clouds might lower, but nothing could appear to me as it had done the day before.

Wu discovers he is infected with lycanthropia after being attacked by a Skalengeck from Black Claw.

Trubel returns, and Adalind leaves Nick to join Renard/Black Claw to protect not only her children but also Nick.

Meanwhile, Hank has an unexpected encounter with a woman from his past.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Call-Back:
    • Flashbacks from "Lycanthropia" are used when Wu remembers being scratched by the lycanthrope in that episode.
    • The gang give Wu Revocare Tenebris, the same memory potion they pretended to give to Renard in "Headache".
  • Cliffhanger: Nick returns to the loft to find Adalind and Kelly gone, with only a note from Adalind saying she has to leave to protect her children. When Nick finishes reading, the note fades, leaving only the words, "I have to protect you," which fade as well.
  • Doing In the Wizard: Theorising how Wu was infected with lycanthropia, Rosalee mentions a theory that the genetic condition is a mutation caused by a virus, with which Wu has been infected.
  • Dramatic Irony: The audience sees Zuri taking orders from Bonaparte, revealing she works with Black Claw and is likely using Hank, but the main characters don't.
  • Internal Reveal: Subverted. Adalind finally reveals her returning powers to Nick, but he already knows.
  • Join or Die: Bonaparte's threat towards Adalind.
Bonaparte: If she chooses the Grimm, we will have to kill her.
  • Mugging the Monster: Theo Delano, a Skalengeck who Wu and others have arrested before, stalks Wu from the hospital and tries to attack him in an alley. Unfortunately for him, Wu is now infected with lycanthropia and kills Delano with one hand.
  • Psychic Link: Eve accidentally tunes into Diana's telepathic message to Adalind demanding she return to her immediately.
  • Rule of Three: Trubel takes out three Black Claw agents who waited near Diana's safe house to ambush Meisner. He only sees the last one.
Trubel: Sorry I'm late. I had to make sure there were only three of them.
  • Shame If Something Happened: Conrad Bonaparte meets Adalind in her office, admires baby Kelly, and then threatens her children if she doesn't leave Nick for Renard.
Bonaparte: There is no word for a parent who loses their child. [...] Your present relationship is very unhealthy for you and Kelly. Your future is with us, not with the Grimm. You need to make a decision by the end of the day.
  • You Have to Believe Me!: A nurse sees Wu's woge face while he has a nightmare in hospital. She freaks out and runs into the hall screaming about the horrible thing she saw. some doctors follow her back into the room, which is empty, only for Wu to appear from the bathroom and ask if everything's okay. The nurse protests that she really did see something, but no one believes her.
  • You Wake Up in a Room: Variation. Twice Wu wakes up in a place he knows, but doesn't know how he got there.
    • At the start of the episode, he wakes up in hospital after the events of "Good to the Bone" and has to be informed of what happened.
    • After killing Theo Delano, Wu wakes up in his own room, but has no idea how he got there or why he's covered in blood.
