Auld Lang Syne: The Roomcone War
While paying their respects at the Ox Temple, the crew find two militias fighting each other over their snacks. It turns out the leaders of those two are brothers who fought due to their village head making a vote on what their village should be called. While the vote gave a near decisive victory to the chococones, the rooms aren't willing to back down and responded with excessive force.
As the war going on, Kleshas seeps in the ruckus and the Captain says something suspicious, causing them to join the battle without much of a warning.
Tropes
- Color-Coded Characters: The brother siding with the chocorooms wears yellow, the brother siding with the chococones wears green, and the third-party brother wears red.
- Exact Words: After trying out the chocorooms and chococones, Catura is asked by the elder brothers which she prefers. They didn't specify the two snacks when asking that question, leading to Catura answering that the Captain is her favorite.
- Multiple Endings: Players are able fight between Chocorooms and Chococones, with the completion of one of the raids earns points for the other team. The ending shown depends on who gets the most points by the end of the event.
- Sequel Hook: Even though the two elder brothers no longer bicker at the Ox Temple, the fact that they're still bickering with each other is a sign that the Roomcone War might not be over yet.
- Sibling Rivalry: The main representatives of the two bickering teams are both brothers, with a third brother trying to become a mediator between them.
- Silly Reason for War: The Roomcone War started due to their home village having a popular vote on renaming to "Mount Chocoroom" or "Town Chococone". While the name is finalized as Town Chococone, this lead to an all-out war that lasts for fourty years.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: No matter which team comes out as the victor, Zooey and Joy swoops in and dispels the Kleshas before any more damage could be done.
- Slept Through the Apocalypse: Catura spent the entire event while asleep, only waking up during the ending.
- Take a Third Option:
- Subverted with the third neutral brother. He tries suggesting to combine the chocoroons and chococones into one, only to be promptly ignored.
- When Catura is given the choice between chocoroons and chococones as her favorite, she goes for the Captain instead.
- Third-Party Peacekeeper:
- The main reason the two brothers are intruding the Ox Temple is so they could get Catura to say the final word. Her answer isn't that helpful and the two still continue to bicker.
- The third brother tries to become this, only to get pushed aside by his two brothers.
