Recap / Golgo 13 Ep 19 The Glass Fortress

Go To

Golgo is hired to go after a reclusive millionaire named Vargas Walton who has been using his dirty money to fund various terrorist groups. There's just one little problem... Walton has taken refuge in a bulletproof glass fortress in the middle of the ocean with no viable angles to make the shot from. Even a well placed ricochet seems to be physically impossible. Meanwhile, the father of one of Walton's many organ trafficking victims finds out that his wife was about to receive a heart transplant from her own daughter and comes to the glass fortress to seek his revenge. Will justice be served or has Golgo finally met an opponent he can't touch even with his godlike sniping skills?

  • Blasting It Out of Their Hands: At one point the father of one of Walton's victims confronts him with a concealed knife... only to be quickly disarmed from a shot from Walton's bodyguard J.J. at the last second. He is later seen with a bandaged arm, but apparently suffered no permanent damage.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Both Walton and his bodyguard J.J. suffer this fate at the end of the episode.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: One of the biggest examples in the whole franchise. To get past the bulletproof walls of the titular glass fortress Golgo fires a shot at the pool and uses the waves to change the angle of the ricochet so that the bullet would hit his enemy right in the head. Then he does it again.
  • Organ Theft: In addition to funding terrorism Walton runs a large organ trafficking operation. The father of one of his victims even outright calls him "a heartless monster who deals in hearts" before attacking him with a knife concealed in his belt buckle.
