  • Always Someone Better: Played With. The Dabney Branch seems more coordinated than the Bailey Branch. Bailey's is shown as just as effective when more set as a team.
  • And This Is for...: Both Bailey and Dabney Branch Glitch Techs fight off the slime monsters after a rallying cry of "For Pancake Macguffin!!!"
  • Apple of Discord: The pancake cat glitch whom Five went across his jurisdiction to obtain.
  • Chekhov's Lecture: Phil mentions that the Slime Brothers are all attracted to one another and if all three come in close contact, the turn into a super boss. Guess what happens at the bridge...
  • Cute Kitten: The glitches Mitch, Miko and Five want to capture are in the shape of adorable kittens with different accessories. Miko does not take long to wish she could take them home with her.
  • Dramatic Irony: When Five tries to tell Miko the truth, she keeps shutting him up and tells him that if something was up, he'd tell her immediately...which is what he's trying to do at the moment.
  • Foreshadowing: Five constantly notes that this "no capturing glitches on someone else's turf" is not in the Hinobi handbook. Turns it out because it's not an official rule; it's something Phil and Joan made up as a "house rule".
  • Friendly Rival: When Simin and Zahra work together, the latter states that this does not make them friends. However, the look they give each other and the "Secret Achievement: Hidden Relationship" implies that it may be this trope in play.
  • Inevitably Broken Rule: Mitch warns Five that Tech Branches are forbidden from capturing glitches beyond their jurisdiction. Minutes later, Five's greed gets the better of him and he sneaks into Dabney to catch a rare glitch that crossed over, starting this plot. It turns out it was an unofficial rule implemented after a past incident between their bosses.
  • In-Series Nickname: The pancake cat glitch is called "Pancake Macguffin" by everyone.
  • It Amused Me: Mitch catches Five breaking the border rules, but keeps it a secret, even if it means starting a Mob War with Dabney and later gets blamed for Five's mistake. Not because he cares, but because it would be fun to see Five sweat until he finally fesses up, though he becomes more focused on Dabney's Mob War.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Mitch does not like the constant puns being thrown around.
  • Mob War: The Dabney Glitch Techs interfere with Bailey's in order to find who trespassed on their turf (Five). When they fail to get an answer, they invoke this, stealing each others targets by any means necessary until the culprit presents themselves. Five finally confesses when the war goes too far and they need to work together to face a dangerous glitch too tough for either branch.
  • Not So Above It All: Nameless is a serious Super Sentai-esque leader of the Dabney Branch who also is into the same cat collection games that Five is.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Phil and Miko state that they can trust Five for being honest. Meanwhile Five is freaking out trying to cover his lie.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Five's hesitation to confess to crossing Dabney's border leads to a turf war with a rival team. His friends then accuse Mitch as the culprit and Zahra's later attempt to steal the catches back backfires. Once it gets out of control, when the glitches they fight over fuse into a boss-level glitch, he finally comes clean.
  • Rivals Team Up: Once Five confesses that he crossed to Dabney, which goes against the rules, the Dabney and Bailey branches finally team up against the boss glitch.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The pancake cat crossing over the city lines, causing Five to grab it and then end up in a Mob War.
