Original air date: 1/20/2022

On the eve of hosting a wedding of a major online influencer, a worker discovers a passageway and vault under the house containing the ghost and corpse of Hetty's amoral husband Elias, a robber baron.

Tropes:

  • Brick Joke: Within the episode. Hetty says that Sam isn't afraid to tell Jay when she doesn't like something, and Thor mentions that Sam was upset at Jay for spending $500 on an "action doll". Later, Hetty yells at Elias for spending $5,000 on a pocket watch.
  • Closed Circle: A more extreme example happens to Hetty's husband, Elias. After having a vault built inside the mansion, the builder locks him in and absconds. Even after he dies, the vault happens to be constructed of material that even ghosts cannot phase through, so until the vault is reopened in the present-day, Elias spends his afterlife with just himself and his rotting corpse.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: It happens to Elias when he threatens to become a permanent nuisance; Hetty tells him to "go to hell!", at which point ominous unseen forces drag him through the floor.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: No one is amused by Hetty deciding to test whether or not banishing people to Hell is her power by casually trying it on Trevor... least of all Trevor himself.
Trevor: What is wrong with you?! That was so scary!
    Hetty: Oh, calm down.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Thorfinn used to pillage for a living, and even he thinks Elias is a jerk.
  • French Maid: When Elias asks if anyone else from his time is a ghost, Sasappis correctly guesses that he means the maid, implying he was having an affair with her. Trevor asks how hot the maid was. No one dares answer in Hetty's earshot, but Thor and Sas both indicate she was very hot.
  • Failed a Spot Check: When Hetty is asked if she knew about the vault, she says she didn't. None of the other ghosts claim they know anything about it either. How is this possible? Whether the vault and its secret underground passage was built at the same time as the house, or was a later addition, Thorfinn, Sasappis and Isaac were present during all this time. How did they miss it?
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": Sam tries to explain to Alberta that she just made a Double Entendre, but Trevor stops her.
Alberta: He "went down on us".
Sam: Alberta, I'm not sure that's the best term...
Trevor: (chuckles) If that's the term she want to use, then she can do it.
  • History with Celebrity: As they discuss the vault, Trevor mentions the time Geraldo Rivera opened Al Capone's vault; Alberta mentions that Capone was "clingy."
  • Innocent Innuendo: Becomes a Running Gag when Elias's plummet into Hell rouses an immediate cry of "He just went down on us!" from Alberta. This new expression is adopted by the others, to Trevor's further amusement.
  • I Wished You Were Dead: Hetty tells her husband "You can go to Hell!" — right before he does, which leads Hetty to think that might be her power. She immediately tries it on Trevor — but fortunately it turns out not to be. Though it does make the other ghosts more wary around her for a while.
  • Kissing Cousins: Hetty calls Elias a lousy husband and her least favorite cousin.
  • Locked in a Freezer: Hetty's husband commissioned a secret vault to be built in the mansion, ostensibly to hide more of his wealth. But when it was completed, the builder conned him and locked him in the vault. Elias eventually died in there, but even his ghost couldn't escape the vault until it is reopened in the present-day.
  • Pooled Funds: When a vault is discovered under Woodstone, Jay talks about diving into gold coins like Scrooge McDuck.
  • Rejection Affection: Elias shows in interest in Alberta, who rebuffs him. "Uh-uh. Ain't happenin'."
  • Running Gag: Trevor offers Sam and Jay advice to raise money by telling them to contact Bernie Madoff, who was an American financier and financial criminal. He was sentenced to 150 years in prison in 2009 for running the largest known Ponzi scheme in history.
  • The Pornomancer: Elias' ghost power is making those who go through them incredibly horny. He uses this to make Sam and Jay come on to the couple planning on getting married on the house and thus cancelling it, then threatens to make every event they try to throw into an orgy.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The vault is constructed of a material ghosts can't pass through, which is why Elias was trapped inside for over a century, unable to get out until the door was opened.
  • Secret Underground Passage: One of the workers uncovered one leading to Elias' vault. Even Hetty had no idea it was there.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Elias commissioned a secret vault, then he not only refused to pay the builder, he slept with the builder's wife. As a result, he got locked inside his own vault and suffocated.
