- And I Must Scream: Chase enters one of the Holons supposedly running the Gen:Lock's copies, only to discover some sort of misshapen thing in the mindscape.
- Gender Bender: Kazu and Val continuously change their sexual characteristics throughout their sex scene, as it takes place in the mindscape; Val flipping between their current male form and their Valentina style from the first season, while Kazu flips between his real body and the form his avatar developed in the previous episode, of his head atop a dainty woman's body.
- Relationship Upgrade: Kazu and Val have sex during this episode.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Cammie expresses a wish to I Will Fight No More Forever when she witnesses the carnage of the battlefield and the horror of the climate collapse. It evolves into this when Kazu is killed in the final moments of the battle, with her immediately porting back to her human body and running out into the wilderness.
- Sex Signals Death:
- Kazu dies in the same episode he has sex with Val when a Nemesis he thought was down stabs his cyberbrain In the Back when he's still running on it.
- Jodie as well, dying just one episode after he’s finally seen having sex with Miranda. Ironically by the firing of the Hammer System, an order given by Miranda herself (albeit one that she had hesitated to give before General Marin encouraged her).
- Taking You with Me: The Nemesis that Kazu fights uses its final moments to impale him with its weapon before slumping over lifeless with him.
- Troubled Backstory Flashback: Val tries to help Kazu with his avatar by having him be vulnerable. The memory is of Kazu's father being abused by his superior and child Kazu trying to defend him. Val explains that Kazu's father was trying to protect him the only way he could, while contrasting it with the abuse of their father.
