Recap / Full House S 6 E 18 Please Dont Touch The Dinosaur

Go To

"Please Don't Touch the Dinosaur" is an episode in the sixth season of Full House.

Jesse and Danny are tasked with chaperoning Michelle's class for their field trip to a dinosaur museum, but conflict ensues when they disagree on the optimal method for it and divide the class into two groups, with Jesse taking one group and Danny the other, ending with a disaster resulting from Michelle unintentionally knocking over a dinosaur exhibit.

In the meanwhile, Stephanie cleans out the contents within Joey's car and gets to keep a box of items, including baseball cards, after Joey gives her permission. She accidentally gives one away to Steve, and tension arises after Rebecca informs her and D.J. about the value of the baseball card in question.

Episode tropes:

  • Eye Take: Both Stephanie and D.J. react with their eyes starting to bulge once Rebecca informs them the market value of the baseball card that Steve is in the process of selling.
  • Gentle Touch vs. Firm Hand: Jesse and Danny's conflict here is over which one of them has the better approach to Michelle's class as chaperone: Jesse prefers a more laid-back way, whereas Danny desires a more disciplined method.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Played for Laughs. While browsing through the baseball cards Joey has bequeathed to Stephanie, D.J. remarks that the player being shown in a card she's holding is "cute". Steve promptly takes the card away at once.
Steve: "Cute"? I'll take that. [takes the card D.J. is holding]
  • Ironic Echo: Played for Laughs. When Steve feels rather stressed out about not being able to afford a limousine for his and D.J.'s prom attendance, D.J. assures him that she doesn't like limos. Once Rebecca reveals that one particular baseball card is actually worth $2,000, however, D.J. gets pumped up about the prospect of being able to attend her prom in a limousine due to the card in question being the very one that Steve is in the process of selling.
Stephanie: I thought you said you didn't like limos.
D.J.: That was before I had a rich boyfriend.
  • Stunned Silence: Joey is in the midst of pouring juice into his cup when he's informed of the market value of one of the baseball cards he gave away to Stephanie, the shock of which stuns him into neither speaking nor moving a muscle while the juice continually gets poured out of its container. By the time he manages to fully recover from his shock, all of the juice that's not in his cup is already out of the container and down the kitchen sink drain.
Joey: Oh, we're out of juice.
  • Worthless Yellow Rocks: One of the baseball cards Joey passes down to Stephanie, who gives it away to Steve by accident due to not being in the know about its market value until Rebecca informs her well after the fact, is actually worth $2,000. Steve himself proves to be just as clueless about its value as well, for he sells it to a kid for $30, and the baseball card b-plot ends with him leaving the Tanner house after promising to get the card back.
Kimmy: [wrapping her arm around Steve's back] Hey, Donald Chump, that card is worth two thousand bucks.
Steve: What?! That little twerp ripped me off?! Don't worry, guys, I'll get the card back.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Implied for comedic effect. After realizing he severely undersold the baseball card, Steve promises to get the card back from the kid who bought the card from him, stating that he's not above roughing the kid up a bit if need be.
Rebecca: What if the buyer refuses to give it back to you?
Steve: He's nine years old. I'm the captain of the wrestling team. We'll work it out.[leaves]
    D.J.: You gotta love him.
