Mike brings Phoebe home to meet his parents but she gets intimidated by how rich they are and makes a fool of herself trying to fit in. Ross discovers that Emma only seems to laugh when she hears the song "Baby Got Back," much to Rachel's horror. Joey is given the idea to invest his now-considerable income in real estate, starting with Richard's apartment, but when he goes there with Chandler, the two discover a tape labelled "Monica" and Chandler gets worried that it's a sex tape.

- Calling the Old Man Out: After Phoebe forces herself to eat veal Mike gets fed up and calls his parents out for how they've been looking down on her.
- Delayed Reaction: It takes Joey several seconds to put together what a video tape in Richard's apartment with Monica's name on means.Joey: A tape with a girls name on it. It's probably a sex tape...(realises) Wait a minute... This says Monica... (looks around) And this is Richard's apartment... (realises some more)

(Joey screams as he works it out) - Dude, Not Funny!: After Monica learns about the tape, she badgers Chandler before recalling that Joey is still there.Joey: [smirking] Oh, Monica, look, I don't think you and I have any secrets anymore. [Monica glares at him] Not ready to joke about it? Okay, I'll see you later.
- Godzilla Threshold: Sure the song is extremely inappropriate for a baby, but Rachel really wants to hear her child laugh.
- Home Porn Movie: Chandler thinks Richard made a sex tape with Monica and is angry that he still kept it after they broke up. However when they watch the tape, it's actually Richard having sex with someone else, to Chandler's relief and Monica's outrage over being taped over.Monica: It's just so insulting! Spring for a new blank tape, doctor!
- Hypocritical Humor:
- Monica points out how sad it is to keep a sex tape featuring a former lover. Then she realizes she got taped over.
- Rachel chastises Ross singing that song to Emma, only to do it herself out of desperation to get the baby to laugh.
- Insecure Love Interest: Chandler still has a grudge over Richard trying to win back Monica in Season 6, alternating between trying to sound superior and grousing about his successes. Finding the tape with Monica's name on it just makes it worse. When Monica questions why he took the tape, Chandler flat-out says this is who he is.
- The Makeover: Rachel gives Phoebe one to make her more presentable to Mike's upper class parents.
- Meet the In-Laws: Phoebe meets Mike's parents for the first time and despite desperately trying to make a good impression it all goes horribly wrong.
- Mistaken for Gay: The woman showing Richard's apartment initially thinks Chandler and Joey are a couple. Joey is about to politely correct her when Chandler more forcefully says they're not a couple.Joey: Wow. You, uh, you seem pretty insulted by that. What, I'm not good enough for you?

- Took a Level in Dumbass: Phoebe was shown to be quite capable of acting professionally and being a The Social Expert in higher-class society throughout the show. Suddenly she can't even make a basic conversation with Mike's parents without bringing up sex.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Chandler is apparently wishing the worst for Richard despite the fact that he graciously stepped back and wanted Monica to be happy with Chandler.
- We Should Get Another Tape: At Richard's apartment, Chandler and Joey find a tape with Monica's name on it. Chandler steals it and angsts about what could be on it, so he gets Joey to check it out for a few seconds. At first, it seems to just be a football game, but it turns out he taped over a sex tape with a woman wearing cowboy boots, which was what he taped over Monica with.
- Wham Line: During his speech to his parents Mike lets slip that he loves Phoebe. She's delighted and immediately says it back.
- Why Are You Not My Son?: Rachel claims that she made such a good impression on Ross' parents that Judy told her she was like the daughter she never had. Monica is, understandably, not amused by this anecdote.
