Rachel watches Ross' monkey, Marcel, for him, but she accidentally lets him get away. She calls Animal Control, but when Ross gets back he angrily tells her that Marcel is an illegal animal and he will get in trouble for having him in the city. Everyone tries to find Marcel. The woman from Animal Control arrives; she went to school with Rachel and Monica, and because they ignored her in school she isn't inclined to help them. However, when she tries to shoot Marcel with a tranquilizer dart, she hits Phoebe instead, so they convince her to leave without Marcel.
Later, Ross tries to make a move on Rachel, but Barry, her ex-fiance, comes in, claiming he still loves Rachel.
Tropes:
- Blackmail: Rachel gets Luisa to give up Marcel by threatening to report her shooting Phoebe with a tranquilizer to Luisa's boss.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Rachel's ex-fiancé asking for her back.
- Contrived Coincidence: Monica and Rachel's former classmate that didn't like them just happens to be the Animal Control officer who responds to Rachel's call.
- Instant Sedation: Subverted when Phoebe gets hit with the Tranquilizer Dart meant for Marcel. She never passes out but does mention that she can't feel the buttock that got hit, eventually regaining feeling during the credits scene. Given that the dart was meant for a small monkey it wouldn't be very effective on an adult human.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Rachel calling Animal Control when Marcel gets lost, not knowing that he was an illegal exotic pet.
- Overcrank: Phoebe's dive to intercept the dart meant for Marcel is shot in slow motion and set to the theme music from Shaft for added hilarity.
- Road Apples: "Marcel, did you poo in the shoe?"
- Shot in the Ass: Phoebe gets a tranquilizer dart in the ass that was meant for Marcel.
- Taking the Bullet: Phoebe jumps between Marcel and the animal control officer right as the officer tries to dart Marcel. Phoebe gets a dart in the butt for her trouble.
- Tropey, Come Home: Marcel gets loose after Rachel accidentally leaves the front door open.
