Go To

The series finale. Frasier realizes that everyone in his life has begun a new phase in their lives, and he decides to do the same.

Tropes:

  • Back for the Finale: The handyman that delivered Martin's chair to the apartment in the first episode returns to take it away when Martin moves out with Ronnee.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • Most of the episode appears to be leading to Frasier accepting a job on a television network in San Francisco, which Bebe told him about. Instead, the plane he's on arrives in Chicago, which is where his girlfriend Charlotte has moved to.
    • When Frasier calls his family together to tell them he's moving, they're initially under the impression he might be dying.
  • The Cameo: The nurse that helps Daphne give birth is played by Arleen Sorkin who is married to one of the series' producers and had previously acted as on-set reader for callers to Frasier's show.
  • Delivery Guy: Averted Trope. When Daphne goes into labour Niles starts hyperventilating and the vet proves so incompetent he almost forgets to wash his hands before touching her. Luckily a woman out in the waiting room reveals she's a registered nurse who can help deliver the baby.
  • Extra-Long Episode: In syndication, the episode is often split into two parts.
  • Feeling the Baby Kick: Niles buys a special speaker that plays music through Daphne's belly so the baby can hear it in the womb. After a few seconds of classical music the baby kicks so hard it knocks the speaker on to the floor, much to Niles' dismay.
Daphne: Oh, goodness! He's never kicked like that before.
Stephen: We've got a little footballer in there!
  • Framing Device: The majority of the episode is a flashback/story that Frasier is telling another passenger (Dr. Anne Ranberg, played by Jennifer Beals) on the airplane they're on, in hopes that it'll distract her from her anxiety over flying.
  • Grand Finale: In the span of just a few days, Niles and Daphne have their first child, Martin and Ronee get married (due to a scheduling mistake bumping up the wedding date), Roz becomes station manager after Kenny decides to become a DJ, and Frasier leaves Seattle.
  • Instant Birth: Just Add Labor!: Daphne's waters break while at the vet and she immediately starts delivering. Niles gets on the phone to the hospital but Daphne makes it clear she's not going to be able to wait for an ambulance.
  • Large Ham Radio: When Roz forces Kenny to cover for Frasier he instantly switches to a hammy DJ voice as soon as the On Air light goes on.
  • Ma'am Shock: Ronee does this to herself when she sees baby David.
Martin: Hey, David, remember me? I'm your grandpa!
Ronee: Yes, and I'm your gra-...Sorry, I just can't say it yet.
