Recap / Frasier S 10 E 12 The Harassed

Go To

Frasier inadvertently causes a new co-worker to instigate a sexual harassment seminar.

Tropes:

  • Ambiguously Gay: Gil apologises at the harassment seminar for those he had unthinkingly harassed over the years, and tells his coworkers "they know who they are". A man and woman in the audience exchange confused looks, then Gil says he's not going to stop "loving the ladies".
  • Bad "Bad Acting": On both sides in Roz and Bulldog's reenactment. Roz is showing emotional range of someone bored out of their mind, while Bulldog is, unsurprisingly, reciting it from memory.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: What Frasier thinks he and Julia have. Julia disagrees.
  • Call-Back: Frasier and Julia's argument ends with Frasier asking "are you as turned on as I am?", much like Sam asked Diane way back in Cheers. However, Julia is not turned on at all.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Julia's a jerkass per excellence, but even she thinks suing KACL over Frasier being irritating would be pathetic.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Bulldog's only comment on hearing Frasier recount how he got KACL into the mess they in? Commenting that people stopped saying "turned on" twenty years ago, nigh-exactly the amount of time between the airdate of this episode and aforementioned example of Cheers.
  • Revenge Is a Dish Best Served: Julia introduces herself by referring to Roz as "Rizzo" and rudely demanding that she get her some coffee. When Roz hands the mug over Julia takes one sip and spits it back out.
    Julia: You call this coffee?
    Roz: (smiling) Most of it.
  • Sensitivity Training: Kenny orders the entire KACL staff to attend a training seminar out of fear that Julia will sue the station. Bulldog cheerfully admits this isn't the first time he's had to go through the program and brings his own workbook. When Julia confirms that she has no intention of suing, and is happy to put that in writing, everyone walks out as the moderator insists they still have work to do.
  • Would Rather Suffer: Roz has her own way of turning down a hypothetical offer of a drink from Bulldog.
Roz: Thank you, Bulldog, but I am uncomfortable with your offer, as I would prefer to tear off my own arm and eat it.
