It's a culinary culture clash when Frasier and Niles join their father for dinner at his favorite restaurant.
Tropes:
- Fish out of Water: Frasier and Niles are completely out of place at the Timber Mill.
- Freudian Slip: Niles jokingly claims one of his clients made one:Niles: One of my patients had a rather amusing Freudian slip: he was having dinner with his wife, and he meant to say 'pass the salt', but instead he said 'You've ruined my life, you blood-sucking shrew.'
- Love at First Sight: Niles becomes smitten with Daphne upon first meeting her, setting up the decade-long arc of him trying to get together with her.
- My God, What Have I Done?: After Martin tears into them, Frasier and Niles see the error of their ways and vow to not leave the restaurant until they finish their meals. They're still there at closing time, annoying the employees even further.
- Nice to the Waitress: Martin tells his sons that even if they're critical of the Timber Mill they should at least be kind to the waitress who's just trying to do her job.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Martin delivers one to his sons Frasier and Niles for their pompous and snobbish attitudes throughout the evening, telling them that even their mother would indulge in the occasional baseball game and hot dog, and that she'd be ashamed of them.
- Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Martin guilts Niles and Frasier into going to the Timber Mill by exaggerating his limp when he heads to the kitchen to make himself something.
