Frasier is constantly interrupted when he tries to find a quiet place to read, and he decides to find the root of the problem.

- All Just a Dream: What Frasier thought of Martin, Daphne and Eddie moving in with him. Just before being greeted by Daphne.
- Bait-and-Switch: It seems like Martin is going to open up about something emotional involving his wife Hester, but then it becomes about how he hurt his eye trying to scrub something out of it.
- Call-Back: Frasier makes a reference to his early suicide attempt, which was seen in the Cheers episode "The Girl in the Plastic Bubble".
- Celebrity Cameo: Christopher Reeve as guest caller Leonard.
- Chekhov's Gun: The storage space. It's causally mentioned as Daphne is loading some of Frasier's extra furniture up, then in The Tag it's shown that's where Frasier finally finds some peace and quiet to read his book.
- Control Freak: Frasier having to have a certain daily morning routine. Even the paper not being perfectly crisp causes him to complain.
- Drama Queen: Frasier is simply at his fussiest worst at the start of the episode, and he doesn't get much better by the end.
- Driven to Suicide: Frasier recalls the time he contemplated jumping off a building. Then he thought of his son Frederick, bringing him back to his senses.
- Lousy Lovers Are Losers: Frasier overhears Roz talking on the phone to her mom about how disappointing sex with her ex Gary was.Roz: I mean, he knew where all the parts were. Unfortunately, most of them were his... Yes. Totally passionless. It was like he was thinking of someone else... I know I was.
- Morality Pet: Frederick was this to Frasier when Frasier contemplated suicide years ago.
- Not a Morning Person: Used word for word by Daphne when she first sees the shape Frasier is in at the start.
- Nutritional Nightmare: What Frasier thinks of his father's idea of breakfast (fried eggs on a piece of buttered bread with cheese) compared to what Frasier normally prefers to eat (yogurt and a bran muffin).Frasier: Ah yes, the Crane family speciality: fried eggs, swimming in fat, served out on a hollow piece of white bread. I can just almost hear my left ventricle slamming shut as I speak!
Martin: You want cheese on that?
Frasier: No! - Or Was It a Dream?: Frasier immediately realizes his father and father's physical therapist moving in with him wasn't a dream when he sees Eddie staring at him.
- Stealth Insult: After getting some good advice from Niles, Frasier thanks him by saying what a good brother and psychiatrist he is. Niles responds in kind by saying Frasier is a good brother too.
- The Tag: Frasier finally gets around to reading his book. In the apartment building's storage space.
