The second bout of the Régiment de Cuisine continues, and Subaru reveals a new ability in his stalking technique: Camera Flash.
This episode provides examples of:
- Ditto Fighter: Subaru perfected his tracing to mimic Soumei's moves at the moment, which he calls "Camera Flash". He also uses this skill to multitask and assist Kuga with his dish.
- Do I Really Sound Like That?: When Subaru makes an impersonation of Soumei's samurai speak, he says he doesn't talk like that, only to be immediately contradicted by all his fellow seniors.
- Honor Before Reason:
- Averted in Kuga's case. In an attempt to piss off Kuga, Eizan asks him if he finds it satisfying to have a match against Tsukasa with help, to which Kuga replies that he is not dumb to try defeating Tsukasa one-on-one in a tournament this important. His only objective is to make Tsukasa lose, whatever it takes.
- Played straight with Soumei, who lends his knife to Subaru because using a normal knife would downgrade the quality of the tuna. Soumei declares that not honoring the ingredients goes against his bushido philosophy. He still wins fair and square against Subaru.
- Impossibly Delicious Food:
- Subaru Mimasaka's Ten Pieces of Tuna Ruby Orbs Sushi With Gunkan Maki, paired with Tosuke Megishima's African Ramen give the judges the sensation of constant shots of flavor and energy, picturing them as tanks shooting missiles of tuna and chili. In Megishima's ramen, the harissa mixed with the peanut broth base and the roasted pork gives the judges warmth and hotness from the chilis.
- Despite Subaru adding an additional piece of sushi, Soumei Saito's Ten Pieces of Tuna Ruby Orbs Sushi blew him off the water. The main difference lays on the sushi size and the depths of the knife cuts on the pieces of fish.
- Rindou Kobayashi's Laziji Caiman surpasses Megishima's ramen by using the laziji chilies to amplify the alligator's flavor and aroma.
- Male Gaze: To shut her up, Subaru gives Urara a piece of his sushi, which immediately strips her down to her underwear.
- Method Acting: In-Universe. In a Flashback, Subaru has trained by impersonating every member of the Council, including cosplaying as them.
- We Work Well Together: In this round, it's seen one of the strategies that can be used during the Régiment de Cuisine: the team can share ingredients and collaborate in preparing a component for the other. Subaru gives Kuga a jar of smoked soy sauce to compliment his green tea.
