During a special class taught by Eishi Tsukasa, Soma is picked as his assistant, which grabs Eishi's attention.

- Adaptation Expansion: In this version, Megumi is watching the duel between Soma and Tsukasa with Erina and Hisako.
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: In this episode, Erina realizes how far Alice is willing to go for her. Erina thought for a long time that Alice resented her for her cold attitude, when in reality Alice wanted nothing more than being close to Erina again.
- Blue-and-Orange Morality: Eishi only supports Central because that's the route that will benefit his cooking, even if Central's goal is to eventually close every restaurant in Japan that isn't on their gourmet standards, but he doesn't have a problem with this because he is only focused on mastering his own skills.
- Calling Out for Not Calling: While Alice is aware that Erina is still afraid of her father, she tells Erina to snap out of it, be her confident self again, and stand up to Azami. Alice isn't mad at Erina for not getting her letters since she guessed that Azami was responsible for that, only lamenting that she and Erina could have gotten a stronger bond if they kept in touch.
- Foreshadowing: In the first second of the episode, it's shown that Akira has been watching Ryou's match from the shadows. It's later revealed that he didn't partake in any of the survivor duels because he was already being blackmailed by Central.
- I Never Got Any Letters: Alice and Ryou recall when they were kids, Alice wrote a letter to Erina every month without fail, but she never got a reply from her, because Azami made sure the letters never got to Erina. Alice makes it clear that she knows it's not Erina's fault, and only Azami is to blame.
- It's All About Me: After having a run with Soma as his assistant for a class, Eishi wants him in Central just so he can be his assistant for his own benefit.
- Mood Whiplash: Alice point blank tells Azami “I hate you” with a chibi-deadpan face, after she made a serious speech on how much she’s willing to do to oppose him for Erina’s sake.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Soma when he realizes he was assisting Tsukasa during class, who works for Central; both of which goes against everything he stand for.
- Pyrrhic Victory: Ryou wins his Food War, only for everyone to learn that 32 other reps lose theirs, resulting in their clubs scheduled for termination.
- This Is Unforgivable!: Soma considers this after learning from Tsukasa that Central wants to shut down every restaurant not meeting with their standards, including his family diner and other small restaurants that have helped him.
