The second duel of the Autumn Election tournament: Megumi vs. Ryou.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • While in the manga only Isami was confused by the paperfan, here both Takumi and Isami comment on how weird Japanese people are.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Subverted since Ryou isn't evil by any means, but he still expresses disgust by how annoying Yuuki and the others are making so much noise for cheering Megumi. She promptly contradicts him and tells him to not talk like that about her friends.
  • Evolving Credits: In the ending Snow Drop, the person in the flower field this time is Soma.
  • Impossibly Delicious Food:
    • Ryou's Soupe De Poisson Ramen relies heavily on the fusion of ramen and soupe de poisson to create a dish that is reminiscent of Ryō's home port town. It is a powerful dish that is further enhanced by dried crustacean shells. It's powerful enough to metaphorically punch all the judges and make Senzaemon strip.
    • Megumi's Kozuyu Chicken Soy Sauce Ramen though it appears to lack the same impact of Ryou's ramen, under its beauty lies an incredibly strong flavor created from the usage of Kozuyu. Using dried vegetables, the soup is further enhanced creating an elegant but strong dish. Finally, a paitan soup was made to create a whole new flavor that allows her to fight toe-to-toe with him. Unknown to anyone, by the next episode her broth was strong enough to undo Senzaemon's fundoshi.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Despite being terrified by Ryou, Megumi shuts him up when he starts badmouthing her friends.
  • Shout-Out: The episode concludes with Ryou and Megumi facing off with their respective food-based Fighting Spirits (which are modelled after King Crimson and Gold Experience respectively), yelling "HOTA HOTA HOTA!"note  and "EBI EBI EBI"note  as they punch wildly a la JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, in the appropriate art style.
  • Worthy Opponent: Ryou initially dismisses Megumi as an opponent due to her kindness and meek nature but after seeing the judge's analysis of her ramen and subsequently trying a bowl for himself, he decides that she's a worthwhile adversary after all and offers her a bowl of his own ramen out of respect.
