Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The event is mainly focused on expanding Tomoe Gozen's character and delving into her backstory.
  • Advertised Extra: Raikou and Kintoki are rate-up Servants but both have a very minor role in the event proper, only appearing on-screen once. They are the bosses of the mirage pagoda that opens up after the story is finished though.
  • The Alcoholic: Sherlock is guarding Shuten's pagoda because he knows it won't become a dangerous singularity and it gives him access to his favourite wines that he couldn't get in Chaldea.
  • Anti-Villain: Many of the servants guarding the pagoda are doing it because they know the pagoda won't threaten humanity.
  • Arc Villain: Shuten-douji instigated the entire thing to lure Tomoe Gozen inside to have her accept her oni blood and have a chat and set up several barriers to prevent any pesky oni hunters from coming inside.
  • Ax-Crazy: Raikou is incredibly eager to kill Shuten and Ibaraki from the start of the event, Da Vinci made Tomoe the leader because she knew if Raikou was in charge, a peaceful resolution would be impossible.
  • Be Yourself: Tomoe essentially learns that she doesn't have to choose between her human and oni ancestry and can just be herself after the protagonist accepted her.
  • Blood Knight: The entire reason Quetzalcoatl is guarding the 40th floor is it gives her a chance to have Lucha matches with all the servants trying to go up the pagoda. Tomoe is a subversion, as while she enjoys violent video games, she doesn't find real-life battles that fun, and in the epilogue states she treats violence as a last resort.
  • The Determinator: Raikou is incredibly determined to kill Shuten and Ibaraki despite the fact the pagoda affects her worse than everyone else except Kintoki, with her horse noting she keeps climbing the pagoda and then visiting the hot springs so much that she's decided to just wear her swimsuit to save time. After the player beats Shuten, Shuten and Tomoe hear Raikou's voice from the roof, with Ibaraki later showing up saying she was hiding on the 90th floor's outside wall when Raikou's bloodlust scared her, showing that she almost arrived at the top.
  • Gamer Girl: Tomoe enjoys both video games and board games. She does admit she enjoys strategy games more and finds puzzle games frustrating because she can't just kill the boss.
  • Happily Married: Caesar and Cleopatra are the dual bosses of the 70th floor and they're incredibly happy to be with each other, helped by the fact Cleopatra has glasses made by Da Vinci that slims down everything she sees. But even after losing the fight and Cleo's glasses breaking during said fight, they're still happily in love and decide to take a look around Japan.
  • Hot Springs Episode: Every ten floors climbed, the story takes a brief pause from climbing to go back and check on how Servants are taking a break in the onsen.
  • Healing Spring: The onsen speeds up the cooldown time for any five Servants put in there.
  • Lighter and Softer: The event is pretty wacky, which is a good breather from the whole drama of the main campaign.
  • Intoxication Ensues: Due to the pagoda being made from Shuten's Noble Phantasm, the higher you go the more likely you'll get drunk, and it's even worse outside the pagoda as Raikou found out.
  • It's All Upstairs From Here: The pagoda is a hundred floors tall with several Servants and barriers in the way of Tomoe Gozen. This was mainly to discourage Raikou from getting to Shuten, but it's all for naught, as Raikou has so much will power through climbing the building after failing to do so outside due to the pagoda's intoxication effects being worse outside.
  • Not Helping Your Case: After Tamamo suggests that Tomoe's enjoyment of violent video games is somewhat eyebrow raising, Osakabehime tries to defend Tomoe's hobby, which is ruined when Tomoe says with a big smile that killing enemies in her games makes her smile.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Tomoe is introduced without much fanfare by Da Vinci by saying she was in the break room. It seems Tomoe was recently summoned to Chaldea as the event is her first mission.
  • Stalker Shrine: Ibaraki's floor is littered with Shuten-douji merchandise that Shuten made herself to the point where she even has fake versions of Shuten-douji as her Mooks.
