Stewie finds himself disgraced by the public after a tweet he sent was taken the wrong way by his favorite popstar. Meanwhile, Peter gets lap band surgery so he can get into shape and bond with Chris.
Tropes:
- Artistic License – Economics: Brian claims he bought two tacos and a soda at Taco Bell for $1.67. Not in this century. He could have reasonably purchased one of those items for that amount.
- Book Ends: The episode begins and ends with Peter collapsing and sweating while trying to spend time with Chris.
- But for Me, It Was Tuesday: When Stewie finally confronts MEBR, she doesn't even remember him or his tweet, because it was "Like a thousand Tik Toks ago."Stewie: You tell time in TikToks?
MEBR: Yeah, it's the sound a clock makes. What do you want? - Disproportionate Retribution: Because of an Innocently Insensitive tweet sent by Stewie, the public hates him, refuses to leave him alone, and may even be responsible for destroying Stewie's teddy bear in an attempt to kill him.
- Eye Scream: Chris accidentally impales the eye of one of the science fair judges. Fortunately it's a glass eye, but Chris still treats it as if he impaled a real one.
- Friendship Moment: Though Stewie's speech is poorly received by the crowd, Brian lifts his spirits by revealing he stitched Rupert back together.
- Harmless Electrocution: Double subverted; Peter babbles the symptoms he's showing after being struck by lightning as if they were meaningful responses to Chris's heartfelt statements. Chris, played it straight because although he was knocked down by the electricity being conducted into him, he's coherent enough to talk to Peter.
- Hypocrite:
- Stewie gets admonished for accidentally offending a celebrity, being deemed a bully, but the response to that is to relentlessly hound and harass him at any point and never apologize for it.
- Stewie himself also falls victim to it; despite not doing a thing to help Brian when the same thing happened to him, and joining the family in kicking him out, Stewie still seems to expect Brian to help him.
- Karma Houdini: Everyone who harassed Stewie for his remarks still does so even after his apology attempt. It's also never shown who blew up his big wheel and by extension, Rupert.
- Lightning Can Do Anything: Like undo Peter's lap band surgery, immediately restoring him to his usual weight.
- Not Allowed to Grow Up: Stewie mentions he's been following MEBR since she was a little girl in a children's show...which calls into question why she aged all the way into a teenager but he didn't age a single year in comparison.
- Recycled Premise: This episode's main plot is essentially a rehash of "The D In Apartment 23" with Stewie in place of Brian. There are quite a lot of recycled plot points (the only major difference is that the rest of the Griffins deal with Peter's lap band surgery instead of Brian's, or in this case Stewie's, fallout):
- The episode's main character becomes obsessed with something or someone (Brian becomes obsessed with Twitter, Stewie becomes obsessed with a popstar).
- They sent a tweet that wasn't meant in any negative way (Brian's tweet was a genuine, if misguided, joke, while Stewie's tweet was intended to show support for his favorite popstar) that greatly angers the public.
- They become a pariah, being harassed (both online and in public) and banned from their favorite public places.
- They attempt to get back into the public's good graces, but it only makes things worse.
- People begin targeting their loved ones (Stewie's teddy bear Rupert and Brian's entire family).
- Finally, they give a Shaming the Mob speech about how their lives were unfairly ruined over a genuine misunderstanding (with the speech falling on deaf ears).
- Shout-Out: One scene has Stewie sing "Mr Boombastic" in order to get back into the public's good graces. It fails.
- Status Quo Is God: Peter regains all of his weight, and his original physique, when he gets struck with electricity at the science fair.
- That Came Out Wrong: When Stewie tweets MEBR as his "favorite pig", it was supposed reference the time the latter played a pig in an "Old MacDonald" play. Unfortunately, without proper context, MEBR sees the tweet as an insult.
- Weight Loss Horror: When Peter gets lap band surgery, he has so much excess skin that it almost pools around him. Chris later uses Peter as a human kite after Chris' original kite broke.
