Incendiary
The team hunts for a young man who is using napalm-style bombs to attack his targets. Also, with Tali away, Jess and Sarah begin to adjust to their empty nest.
- Asshole Victim: Thuy's former employer Bill Mirica fired her instead of giving her medical leave for her back injury.
- Berserk Button: Binh is driven by anger and resentment over his mother Thuy's mistreatment from microaggressions and racial slights.
- Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Binh's motive for killing is because of his mother's past mistreatment.
- From Camouflageto Criminal: Binh uses his military training to create and use napalm-style bombs on his targets.
- The Gambling Addict: The team finds out that Binh's stepfather Ken had gambled away their life savings, preventing his mother Thuy from getting back surgery. This is what set Binh off in attacking the casino dealer and anyone he deems responsible for his mother's mistreatment.
- Man on Fire: Binh's victims are burned by his incendiary bombs.
- Molotov Cocktail: Binh uses homemade incendiary bombs incorporating homemade napalm as weapons that the team describes as "Molotov cocktail-like".
- Passed-Over Promotion: Jess reveals that his late wife was passed over for a position in Army intel numerous times despite possessing a degree in statistics and speaking three languages because "all they saw was a Native American woman with dual citizenship", leading Jess to sympathize with Binh and Thuy's plight.
- Talking the Monster to Death: It takes Thuy tearfully begging her son Binh to stop that finally convinces him to surrender.Thuy: "Binh, don't! You're all I have left. Please. You and me, we always found a way to survive, the two of us. But if you do this, I won't survive. I can't."
- Team Killer: Binh's stepfather Ken reveals that Binh murdered a teammate for insulting his mother and disguised his death as a training accident.
- Unfriendly Fire: Binh murdering his former teammate was then made to look like an accident.
