The XGB team battles Luco, a demon that jumps to various electronic devices and controls them — including Roland, who becomes possessed into constructing an infernal machine.

- Doomsday Device: The Infernal Machine.
- It's All My Fault: Roland blames himself for creating the Infernal Machine for Luco to use. Then, Egon and Eduardo inform him that he didn't actually create it but merely the idea was implanted into his head by Luco. Hearing that, Roland is unsure to be relieved or even more upset. On the other hand... check Nice Job Breaking It, Hero.
- Hoist by Their Own Petard: Luco intends to use the very machines mankind had used against them.
- He then gets a taste of this, being trapped by the very machine he manipulated others to build for him.
- Never Found the Body: The Ghostbusters initially presume this before accepting that the threat is over. It isn't over because Luco was inhabiting Roland's PKE Meter. Interesting to note is that Eduardo wants to stand by the idea that the ghost is toast.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: On the other hand, Roland did implanted almost every technology the Ghostbusters had into the machine.Roland: I was gonna put it back.
- Shout-Out:
- Garrett compares their current case with Child's Play.
- Then after tricking Eduardo into blasting a toy, he tells him that he has just blasted Mr. Potato Head.
- Slasher Smile: Luco sports this till his capture.
- Terrible Artist: Creativity variant. Roland goes through a crisis, questioning himself of his creativity or more precisely, lack of it. He was perfect for Luco to manipulate.
- Tragic Hero: Antonio Garibaldi saved the world from Luco but was imprisoned for his role in creating it. Even if he told them that Luco manipulated him, no one's going to believe in ghosts.
